Rumor is that a legal conflict opposes father & son and that a court legal battle just got started. As you already know Paul Jr. left the show “American Chopper” in June 2009 after a live TV non-scripted argument with his father and then went to start his own design company.
The object of the litigation would be about stock options in Orange County Choppers Holdings Inc. that Paul Teutul Jr. promised to sell to his father if he would leave the show and the OCC company.
It seems that Paul Jr, refuses to release these stock options and that Senior is obliged to sue his son to have this agreement being enforced by the court. I know this story since 10 days, was hesitating to publish it for a simple reason. I am still wondering if it can be a new TV reality show trick to boost the audience for the sixth season of “American Chopper”? Not sure, but if some things about OCC are not 100% believable, it’s their fault (photography of the past…)

It always seems the more a person gives over their life to TV fame or Hollywood then the more “Hollywood” their life becomes and as always life is stranger than fiction. There are few exceptions of course… but only a few.
I’d do the same thing if i was Senior. Junior could learn a thing or two about work ethic and sticking to your principals from his father. Maybe this will enlighten him that the world doesn’t revolve around his big head. Besides doesn’t he realize he wouldn’t be designing BBQ’s if it wasn’t for his father? Haha . BTW, i hate OCC but it’s entertaining television when i can catch it. Does anybody know why that father/son build team in Louisiana doesn’t have their own show? The Metry’s i think?? Now that would be an entertaining show… BB

While it’s unfortunate it’s come down to father suing son, it’s all a matter of business with the lawsuit. While it is a touch surprising, I cannot say I’m in shock.
With Paul Jr. starting his own business, perhaps he will see his father in a different light running his own business. He may realize why Paul Sr. was aggravated at him coming in late, leaving early and disappearing. Paul Jr. will also learn what it’s like to be the owner with all the responsibilities, instead a person with part interest.
IF this was true why would Sr. need his son to sell? GREED does he not have enough already. Why force the sale now because their stock is down in price? If it were true Sr. should be ashamed. Family is much more important than money. And IF this is true Sr. will only drive a bigger wedge between himself and his family.He should think about this when he is old and on his death bed what will he want more of the money or time with his family? It is too bad those steriods did not help his brain grow.
I am so tired of this entire OCC bullshit I could scream! This is all scripted crap! The show is finally going down the tubes and the network and producers will do anything to try and save it for one more season. Say goodnight damn it and move on.

I haven’t seen that show in years, nor do I care about those involved or the show…
but having said that, the claim that the father was obliged to sue the son is silly. He wasn’t obligated to do anything. He wants the shares, his son refuses to sell. The only way to force the issue is to sue.
But it’s no different than any other family squabble…. no family squabble is ‘obligated’ to be heard in court, and it is always sad when family members are going after each other in court.
When it is a father suing his son, well, that is just a travesty.
IIRC the son owns 15%. So the father would appear to have control over the business, and I can’t think why he would need that other 15%.
If the son refuses to sell… is that really worth destroying the relationship over?
The whole thing is sad… father and son are now on the outs over money. MONEY??? They both don’t have enough and need more?
I hope I never lose any of my family over something as trivial as money. I can’t imagine that either side is happy about this, regardless of what is said in any news media.

Asa has it right. Personally,I don’t like seeing this happen and at the same time I understand why Sr would want to do this. It seems as if Jr has still not learned anything. This whole time he has kinda floated along,contributed little and kept his hand out wanting more. At least,that is what it seemed like to me. I don’t believe that this is scripted. The only ones making out on this are the lawyers. I hope they are able to get this sorted out and move on. They will never work together again unless Jr learns some kind of work ethic and he realizes what it actually takes to manage a business. At the same time I hope that things don’t get blown out of proportion by those around Sr and that they let family work out family problems. Just my .02

As a man who works with his son and has for years I can tell you it is by far the best way to make a living their is. That said conflicts do arise. OCC is a public company and has stock, stock holders and stock options. As a public company they are under an oblagation of fidiciery trust to enforce all their agreements, copyrights etc. This is what the FCC and their banks would insist on anyway.
The lawsuit is the real deal and its really a no brainer when you delve into the rules and bylaws of any FCC regulated public company.
Personally I always felt that SR. while loud and often annoying has a great work ethic that sadly neither Mikey nor Paul JR. cared to emulate. Paul’s other sons are very hard workers and run the original iron works and foundry that Paul SR. established. Sadly he is estranged from them as well.
Again as the father in a father – son team I find this beyond sad. My son and I have a rule:
Never let the sun set on an unresolved issue or argument. We learned to compromise our ego’s a long, long time ago. Nothing is more important that a man’s relationship with his children.

Actually I really don’t care. I’ve never liked their bikes, or their show or their me, me, me attitude, or the way they treat their fans. Its been a greedhog fest from start to finish.
There’s plenty of class act builders in this business, OCC is not one of them.

My father and I are a build team, and wouldnt change it for the world! I dont think they realize what they had going, It’s strange what money and fame do to people. Its a shame to say the least. I know I always say,” Well, that wouldnt happen to me” or “I would never do anything like that!” You never know unless you yourself are in the same position.
I wish the viewer and what fans they have left would just let it go….MOVE ON! There are other builders out there who deserve a chance in the spot light too!

Their show from the start has been a waste because of the bickering. I wanted to watch bike being built how hard is that? I have high hopes for Motor City Motors and hope they leave out the B.S. drama so that I don’t have to not watch it.

Bit suspicious, really- “controlling interest” is majority stake, which isn’t 20%, so Daddy’s claim doesn’t make much such on the surface;
However, it’s a cute tax dodge to sue for a stake- damages aren’t taxable, whereas liquidation of shares is…. Wouldn’t be the first time this transfer of assets game has been played…..

Hey T-Cute game? Man,sounds like the smart thing to do if you ask me. For those who don’t like OCC-the simple answer is to change the channel and don’t bother to post your opinions-that is if you really don’t care one way or another. I have to say,right ,wrong or indifferent,OCC has done more for this industry than alot of people involved in the industry want to admit. The custom motorcycle industry is known the world (mainstream)over because of what has happened with OCC. It is unfortunate that it appears to be tearing the family apart and maybe all is not what it appears to be. I would imagine the overhead is huge as well.
I don’t really follow the show or the bikes they build but after reading the news story I really don’t understand why this 20% is so important? It’s definitely not a controlling interest in the business and I wonder if it was purely driven by Sr. not wanting jr. to have any ownership? If any of it is true its a sad way to ruin a family.

To all the knockers I have but a small poem for you to read as follows
It is easy enough to pick out flaws in the work others have done,
to point out errors others have made, when your own task you have not begun

and perhaps it is proper to sometimes find fault, but be sure you have done something first.
I feel for junior. I also feel for senior. They both have issues that made them the show it was. Sr, by his own words, was a poor father with chemical abuse issues. Jr., albeit he never disclosed any addictions, suffered a common disease that seems to be plaguing or younger generation, laziness. Sr. has a strong work ethic and cannot/willnot accept the carefree attitude Jr. showed toward his job. Jr. was, and is , very gifted in his designs and adaptation. He made the bikes that amazed everyone. Sorry Sr., you don’t have it. Sr. made some attempts at building and all were mediocre old school machines that are a dime a dozen. Jr. had all the creativity and the insight to see his finished product before he started it. I’d give my left arm to be that talented! I was in the bike business for over 25yrs and I know talent when I see it. Now for Sr. His fortay was running the business and, had Jr. been in charge, that company would have folded the first year. They both brought excellance to the table. Sadly neither thought much of the other and both thought it was them that kept the doors open. I truly believe Jr.’s acts were designed, and all to rub his old man the wrong way. Maybe he still has “growing up with daddy” issues? Either way, the fact remains, without each other they have nothing. How they ever got discovered by Discovery I don’t know, but thank God they were found or some of the sweetest bikes I have ever seen would not have been. I wish them both goodwill wherever they end up and hear this: Fighting over money cost me and my father a 20+ yr seperation. I never saw my dad again until I stood by his death bed. So much time and anger wasted for what? Because I felt he jipped me of a few bucks and then we were jipped out of a lifetime together. I wish I could go back and fix that horrible mistake and they, someday, will also feel that pain.
Very unfortunate situation…they really had a good thing going. Building bikes for good causes, creating a legacy together, then as every “reality” tv show does, along with greed… it destroyed relationships, business’ and reputations.
They have talent, skill, creativity and some amazing bikes came out as a result of it.
I wish them both the best and hope they can mend their relationship.

The show was not scripted but the huge amount of tape that was created for an episode could be edited into almost a scripted format that sometimes doesn’t follow what really happened. This happened with an American Hotrod episode involving a female builder. The edited version had her fired and other things out of sequence. She was an intern who finished her time with the shop.
The reality is that Paul was fired by his Dad, they have a non-existent relationship now, and he is starting his own motorcycle shop. The sad reality is that the show really sucked in the last years without Vinnie and Cody and demonstrated what an ass that Sr. really is.
It’s good to see that Senior vs. Junior is about to start. Maybe it will be back to building bikes that made the first several seasons good.
I don’t get people who hate shows and then spend time on a blog just bitching about it. Do you automatically tune to shows you hate just so you can bitch about them, JEFF?
