Alleging that Paisano didn’t fully performed all conditions and obligations required under the License Agreement and failure by Paisano in finding vendors to rent space around the property during the 2012 Sturgis Rally, the Saloon owners had removed the Easyriders signs inside and outside the Saloon & Steakhouse and also all branded for sale merchandise and clothing.
A District Court issued a preliminary injunction against the owner of the Easyriders Saloon in Sturgis, SD ( A company named KSLB&D Inc.) in favor of Paisano Publications.
The court found that the Saloon & Steakhouse owners were contractually obligated to retain the name “Easyriders Saloon” throughout the pendency of the litigation between the parties.
Joe Teresi, the owner of Paisano who founded the Easyriders’ franchise over 40 years ago, stated: “We are grateful the court recognized our position in the lawsuit and that the Easyriders name will again be prominent for the 2012 Sturgis Rally. We are hopeful that this ruling will allow Easyriders and the owners of the Easyriders Saloon to move forward together to continue to make the Easyriders Saloon the best spot in town to enjoy the Rally. I look forward to seeing everyone else who is attending.”

Any judge would take this decision because the trial didn’t start. Paisano may be happy to see the name Easyriders on a bar/restaurant during the 10 days of the Sturgis Rally, but for Joe Teresi to claim that the judge recognized his position in the litigation is untrue. The judge just agreed on an injunction, just saying, as he should, that he doesn’t know who is right or wrong and until judgment asking that the signs remain in place. Now, I would like to know who is buying Easyriders junk with the same designs for the last 15 years. At least! Just the year on tees in changing…
Just my opinion. The restaurant owners realized that the name Easyriders doesn’t bring extra traffic or money to the business, that Easyriders merchandise doesn’t sell. Now that there is litigation, it may be the only hope for Paisano to make a little bit of money out of a settlement with the restaurant owners, money they would never make from royalties on sold merchandise at the bar. Amen.

Those days seem to be over whenever it comes to money or business.
The Sturgis Saloon is a great place to go and have a great meal and listen to great music. They have obviously made a commitment to stay in Sturgis a long time by building there great site. I will continue to go there and give them my business. That being said, Easyriders must be totally lame if they can’t fill vender sites around this super prime location. Sounds like thier only commitment is to money, and not the bikers. I will continue to go there because of the great building, food and service regardless of the name on the outside. I will also continue to NOT buy any easyrider crap as I walk through.
Just another way to separate the sucker from his money! Go for a ride.
I would imagine, to some degree, that some vendors have their spaces staked out from previous years, maybe doing deals to be in a spot for x amout of years or that they have a good handshake & a deal going somewhere & just don’t feel the need to set up in another location.
I”m still appalled at those that want to blame all of this on Easyriders, and boycott the bar and the restaurant, and their mecharndise.
1.) Boycotting the bar enritely would harm both the bar owners and Easyriders.
2.) Does ANYONE know the vendor fees there? Are they really so much higher there than anywhere else downtown? What percentage of the vendor fees goes to the bar owner and what percentage goes to Easyriders? Seems to me that you would want to know those things before you start accusing one side or the other of high prices.
3.) Why aren’t you bitching about the prices of the beer at the saloon? I’m sure it’s overpriced compared to a bar in your local town. Seems to me if you are going to bitch about the price of vendor fees at that parituclar space, you should bitch about the price of beer. But you say “but beer is expensive every where at the rally”, well guess what, so is vendor space.
4.)In regard to the overall candid hatrid of Easyriders and them being money hungry, well guess what. They are a BUSINESS. They have to worry about money or they will go out of business. Just remember their money hungry policies have for over 30 years brought us information about the industry, kept us informed about rallies and shows nationwide, gave many a motorcycle builder a place to showcase their work, and provided an outlet for artists such as Michael Lichter and David Mann. How many times did someone post on this board that they were happy to see some fly by night company go out of business because they were only in it for the short haul back int he late 90’s and early 2000’s and that they were only in for a quick buck. Now people are bitching about a compnay that has been around for 30 pkus years in support of some other company that whos knows what they were doing a few years ago? Really, KSLB&D? Come on guys.
Look I’m not against KSLB&D and I damn sure ain’t against Paisano either. I haven’t a clue as to who is right or who is wrong in this lawsui. I haven’t read the contract between KSLB&D and Paisano and I don’t care to. Let the judge hear both sides and rule on it and the the party at fault needs to deal with it. But I am not going to write negative comments against either company because they are trying to make some money. Who among you out there is working for free? Honestly, I probably wasn’t going to buy a beer or a Easyriders shirt, but hell, I may just have to go buy there and get both a beer and a shirt now.
Either way, I’m leaving for Sturgis Wednesday morning and will be setting up camp once I get there for a week long stay. I intend to enjoy my visit. I’m not overly wealthy so whereever I spend my money I’ll be doing it why I deem to be wisely and I damn sure ain’t going to speak negatively about people taking my money, because lets face it, except for maybe a few of the church’s up there offering free coffee and breakfast, pretty much everyone else up there doing business is out to make a little money. Thank god we live in a country where people can make an honest living.
