Great Job. Bike looked great and way to stay above the rest. God Bless
Hell yeah!! He build an awesome bike and deserved to win…Congrats Paul!
what a useless piece of shit. bikes are meant to be ridden. that rolling yuppie magnet wouldnt make it 2 blocks.
Clearly the best bike own. Jesse is a poser and so is his old bike, Jr built one of those 10 years ago. SR bike was not a bike, highlights his way of thinking.
Jr’s bike by far was better, Jesse’s just looking for 5 more minutes of fame and just realized nobody cares anymore.
So predictable. How long until we hear about the rematch show (just like prescripted All Star Wrestling)?
great bike Jr!
Good to see that the Best Theme Bike won. And make no mistake about it, JJ built a Theme Bike alright.
It was supposed to be based on the “Badass” theme, but unfortunately for him, it didn’t quite measure up.
…wow…I’m so surprised…
I tell ya what, lets see where Jesse’s 5 Minutes of fame is getting ready to go, right to the top! Jr. and Sr. are the ones dried up, the Drama has came to a end!
Eat shit Jesse James! You used to be somebody, now you’re just a NOBODY, CHEATER!!! And your bike sucked!!! So glad Sandra found you out! Hope it wasn’t too late and she didn’t catch anything from you and the sluts your were bumpin!!!!!
JJ is a pathetic fraud. Loser. Congrats to true class.
Jesse james’s bike was a great chopper, like they always are. He has alot of talent, building the frame and everything from scratch, but Jr’s bike was ridiculous. And what wad paul senior thinking it was a bike buildoff. Congrats Jr.
One movie prop, one store display and one ridable bike.
jj and ps built bikes that came in way 2nd and 3rd. if class would of been voted on their bikes would have fallen over. sr. cant recognize creativity, jj had his chance to reconnect with other humans and seemed like he was going to try but a strong 3rd on that. jj good luck with your daughter if there is any hope for you she is it
Good job paul,my wife and i both like what you build keep up the good work
This was nothing short of a popularity/ratings contest to promote DC’s brand, and sell advertising. Say what you will about Jesse.. he built a rideable, rigid frame, springer monster from the ground up – by himself! Jr had a team, and built a ‘theme’ bike with a 1 gallon gas tank, 30in propeller wheels (?) and its 20% larger. Sr didn’t even build a ‘bike’, period. Jesse was up against an ‘American Idol type’ voting machine. If you RIDE (like me), you know who won. \m/
JR’s bike was pretty .. but like Jesse said it doesn’t even have a real gas tank. Twenty mile range , doubt it. This wasn’t about a REAL bike , it was about yuppy TV bling rides. I’m done watching the show . Jesse’s is the bike I’d want to ride , hard ,fast and Everywhere …. CFL.
Say what you want about Paul Jr’s bike, You can find a bike like jj’s outside a biker bar in any Friday night. And Paul Sr’s Snowmobile would be awesome if you lived in Alaska. Paul Jr had a vision, stuck to it, and whipped ass.
Keith Ball said it all…Jr. hit a home run.
That hour of TV was LAME…….
There are tons of awesome builders out there that arnt on TV that would & could build way better bikes. It’s like where letting a cable company telling us who the best bike builder is. Jesse is a an awesome craftsman that got picked up by a cable company and then crafted into a TV persanlity. The othere guys are basically paid actors. So many awesome builders other than these three guys.
CYRIL keep posting great builds by talented builders that arnt “TV persanalitys”………
I’m a bike builder myself. Been to all the big shows and have most of them. After watching the last two nights and reading most if not all of CYRILS post I’ve come to realize that this whole build off was intertertaining, really dumb, and contrived. Everyone has there own opinion, hope it helps our industry in some way but over all it was dumb……….
i saw a lot of potential and paper weight, nice to look at and that’s all it was. nothing like a reliable scoot riding up and down I-10 without worrying about parts falling off, nice build with the Rigid Frame.
Congrats Paul jr. you and your team did good.
I’m sure we haven’t heard the last from JJ.
Paul Sr is a neanderthal idiot. He hasn’t a clue …
Jesse James lives in fantasy land … what a moron.
Geat job ,,,, Paul JR
That Wold War 2 fighter design was just AWSOME.
That was not just buliding a bike ,, You were buliding AMERICA
Are you people kidding me? You actually think Paul jr bike looked good? ridiculous, unrideable, gaudy… belongs on the set of TBN ..Jesse may be a jerk but he has talent – those that like pj’s bikes are not real motorcycle people and have no artistic taste.
Anyone who thinks its sad must be one of those dumb asses who think that just because you get some Tattoos, put on a black T-shirt, dickhead bandanas and ride a bike that it makes them a bad ass…. NO!!!!! it just makes you look like an ASS!!!!!!! The contest was for the HOTTEST BIKE YOU FUCKING IDIOTS !!!!!!! Is this all Jessie can remember about building bikes. NOW THAT’S WHAT’S SAD!!!!!!! Nice way to bring a bike from like 15 years ago. Just like all of your old ass machines you need come with some new shit……. Dam!!! I use to like that dude.
Anyone who thinks its sad must be one of those dumb asses who think that just because you get some Tattoos, put on a black T-shirt, dickhead bandanas and ride a bike that it makes them a bad ass…. I remember a Bike build off where JJ finished his and was on his way to Sturgis on his green bike and Opppppps what was that my seat just fell off and we have to trailer my ride the rest of the way to Sturgis????
I want to know if you all watched the same show I did? JJ says he build every part of that bike from the ground up? He may have built the frame, then he got frustrated when and shot a gun, smoked a cigar and called in some buddy’s to do what he obviously couldn’t. Finish building his bike.
Yoooo… Sr, you owe me a tee shirt, I was that guy who voted for you back on Nov 11.
I’m pretty sure sr. Built the best bike. Jrs was second, jjs was third. Isaw that same bike in the newspaper the other day. This contest was about innovation. Who builds the “best” bike. Sr. Takes it. People that say jr. Wins, realize without sr, there would be no jr. Fuck jesse james. He is an arrogant prick that builds bikes that are 15 years old. Sr. Wins, period.
Jesse completely missed his come back. So so bike. He really looked like a very desperate man trying to get back his over rated reputation of bad ass builder. Sad.
Jesse was the first Yuppie to build bikes for TV, then he went Hollywood with the fake marriages. Now the loser acts like the Comp. was for the bike with the largest gas tank. he is a joke and got his ass handed to him.
ASS CLOWNS… all of them.
Hey, Cyril. JJ needs a manager for a complete makeover. His old antics no more work.
JJ built a bikers bike. Most of the people who voted for Jr’s bike don’t know anything about bikes but just like flashy stupid theme shit. Same people who think transformers and twilight are good movies.
Senior knew he had no chance becuase of what people think of him so he went way out in left field and for that he gets some credit. Jesse’s bike showed his skills are above the others and is my winner for that and its beauty in being simple and cool. Jr. demonstrated he has some real talent – you can see it in the lines of the bike, but he did not know when to stop with the bling and gimmicks like the smoke.
jesse may be a true biker & badass, but that doesn’t make him a better bike builder. i also didn’t think the credentials of this contest was to see who could drive the furthest b4 stopping at the gas station. jesses may b a cooler dude, but c’mon, jrs was by far better.
Jesse James bike was better and actual ride able it got more then 10 miles to a gallon. They should of actual done a real biker build off when you had to actual ride the bike but of course they had to change it for the teutals. I like JR but Jesse James is a better builder and fabricator. Jesse actual builds his bike and Jr doesn’t really do anything he has Vinnie, Brandon and Cody do all his work. It is also funny how Jesse James wanted to do this like 10 years ago and got turned down by them. This was just a popularity contest. But congratulation Junior you handled yourself with class.
No surprise that jr’s “bike” won, its almost a work of art.. if you want a bike to be essentially non- functional and for display only. The rules should have required the bikes to be riden several hundred miles as in other biker build offs to ensure the bike is really functional as a rider and not just window dressing. Imagine riding jr’s bike any distance- like a mile- with that tank mounted exhaust roasting your lap and stomach.Totally impractical, not really a motorcycle.
JJ’s bike was the only real rider there, and while I don’t really care for choppers, at least this one is ridable and functionable as a bike, and not juat as a static display piece. that bike should have won on the basis of it being a beautiful and RIDEABLE bike. Great job Jesse.
I just threw up a little in my mouth. I am sorry…. this show is called American Chopper (have we lost sight on what the term means?)
Jesse’s bike wins hands down (regardless of what the WWE/Nascar/HOG Members votes say)….. Jesse’s bike IS A CHOPPER. Paul Juniors bike is fine (a Rooke/Goldammer knock-off for sure), but the Only “chopper” is Jesse’s and YES, I agree….. everyone should log 500 miles to actually win this gay challenge
The Snow Mobile is lame (and for facks sake…. is not even a motorcycle!)…. that dumbass who OCC calls a “designer” is a clueless moron and just cuz you know Solid Works does not make you a bike builder, anymore than being able to build a table from IKEA makes you a custom furniture maker. Trust me, this clown is NOT a designer of any caliber and I welcome a Solid Works “design-off” with this jackass any day)
Please end this insanity and give Jesse a new show, bring back biker buildoff, Cancel American Chopper and while you are at it, explain to the ol man that having your employee’s build a bike for you IS NOT building a bike, it is just telling people what to do (badly) and taking credit for it. This works fine in business, but is a mega FAIL in a 3 on 3 contest.
Lastly…. YOU ASSEMBLED A SNOWMOBILE…. thats like bringing a toaster to a knife fight, it just doesn’t make any sense (except for the fact that Lego Land paid for a “umm…. bike????” and you used this for an excuse to take part in this farce of a reality TV / dramadey.
I am deleting this train wreck from my Tivo and going to bed!
Cyril who do YOU think should have won?
I watch on and off through the year. I have to say watching Jesse makes me want to get back to the grass roots of building not only bikes but anything out of metal. Freedom of expression. That’s what all three builders did. I call them builders because that’s what they are. They built art in one form or another. Who cares who won. I presonaly think Jr’s looked the best but I agree I’d want to ride JJ’s bike to the bar. I wasn’t a fan of the height but it wasn’t my mine to complain about. I have been an artist over half my life. Whether its a sculpture you can ride or a painting you look at for hours. Its all subjective. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People forget that when they look at the time and effort a person puts into a project. It made for good television about motorcycles. After seeing the effects of this economy I think any publicity about building motorcycles is
good publicity.
Hey Jeff, if you think Jesse is a badass and a cool dude, you better take a reality check on youself son! The guy is a complete loser!
i don’t think badass is a compliment, he is what he is, but not a better designer than jr
Didn’t Sr. have a very successful metal fabricating business on the east coast and start puting bikes together as a hobby until Hugh King catapulted the Teutul clan into stardom and new fortune. Maybe Sr. could operate acouple of those machines in JJ’s shop. Didn’t JJ profess to be week to week on bills on Hugh King’s Motorcycle Mania.
Really wanted JJ to win…: ( Sr was just out in the left field, although I commend the creativity. Jr had some glimmers of awesomeness, but overall is not a bike that you can really ride. I’m not a huge fan of JJ as a person, but I am a huge fan of JJ the bike builder. JJ’s bike was something I could ride for miles. And what he does is amazing…I would love to see the Teutals actually build a bike from the grown up (minus the engine). This contest should have been a pure bike competition…if it was, then JJ would of won hands down. \m/
I was torn between Jesse’s and Paul’s bike because I can appreciate Jesse building the frame etc, but honestly Paul Jrs team can probably do the same anyway. The point about it being rideable is sort of dumb for this competition since it wasn’t called a ride off contest. If that were specified as a stipulation I’m sure the designs for Jr and Sr would have changed accordingly and even then the audience can’t gauge that based on 3hrs of tv so Paul Jr was simply the smartest of the 3 builders when it came to winning this competition.
From a design perspective I liked the simplicity of Jesse’s, it was the most pure the most clean, but Jrs had a unique look to it, the only problem though is it could have used some editing. Sr.was just so far off the mark, it just looked really bad to me, and was as over the top as Jesse predicted, only without the pinwheels.
I didn’t watch any of the show. Judging by the pics I like Seniors machine the best, even tho it isn’t a motorcycle.
The saddest part of all this is that it is being talked about on Cyrils blog….a motorcycle blog, not a television blog.
It’s just a TV show folks, don’t take it too seriously.
Here it is in a nutshell… We all knew who was gonna win this contest because the people who watch this show are the same group of credit card bikers who showed up in this indrustry 10 years ago. The future of the motorcycle building is young guys, guys who do this for the love of the craft that is building with your own two hands. Jesse you rocked our socks off with your abilities and shown us once again that you are a master of metal. Live it up paul jr, without the Discovery channel you and shop would not exist. Later Fools
This ones for all of the haters. Jr and his “team” built one over the top bike. Jesse and Sr got exactly what they earned…first and second losers. JJ’s was very nice and no questions about his talents…but his bike was far from awesome and he’s a phony, a poser and a wannabe who acts like a child. Sr? Whatever was he thinking…a gaudy firebreathing unrideable snowmobile. Both Jesse and Paul Sr could learn from this, Jr has some integrity and class, something that the other two don’t.
I see it as this: creativity-Jr wins hands down. Design asthetics – I’d put it as nearly even between Jesse and Jr for diff reasons. Rideabilty is worthless to judge for this specific contest and we can’t see craftsmanship for the either on tv. Jesse came off as a bitter person completely full of himself, Sr was completely invisible and Jr came out looking the best by staying above the fray as far as what viewers could see. Jr knew how to win.
Ugh. Jr’s bike was a throwaway. It didnt even posses the “boardtracker” elements referenced; that was reach. I give Jesse props for running through a lions den with pork chop underwear on. American Chopper is Teutaland, whose male audience wives surf TMZ. It was likely they would sway Jr’s favor. On the flip side, JJ is cunning enough to leverage this opportunity to broadcast a next level of fabrication skillsets working with complicated metals, etc; to those in the know, and with the trends gone toward quality builds and classic style, he reinstated himself as a true custom builder in the motorcycle industry. So IMHO, he lost the battle with non enthusiat Monster Truck / WWE audience and “Live to Ride” HOG members but won the war with the true motorcycle and custom / fabricator community. Lets put it this way, you pull up to the Dave Mann Chopperfest in Ventura on JJ’s machine, it would be worthy. You attend the same event on Jr’s and they would tell you the bicycle path is 200 yards to the west next to the pier.
Oh, and Keith Ball in a buttondown and sportcoat? Also wasn’t he the former Editor In Chief who introduced JJ to the biker community through late 90′s Easyriders issue, has a couple bikes from him and even rides a Pat Kennedy setup like JJs? Yet he vote for Jr? The vine says there is a backstory to that relationship hence the voting for Jr……
In the end, JJ accomplished the objective. Read between the lines…..
Congrats to Jr. But in reality a big over grown shwwinn wit a 1 gallon, ten mile bike?
Jesse built pretty much what he always builds, with more polish and color. Paul Jr. built a theme bike, that is what he does. He put a great deal of work in the detail. Senior built a snowmobile. Senior actually did not work on it, so he really built nothing. I was disappointed in Jesse. For all his smack talking about how he builds everything by himself ~ bull! He bent and welded the tubing for the frame, but he sent it out to be polished! Someone else built the motor and the tranny. Jesse didn’t even paint the bike himself! He got in trouble and called in an Austin shop to bail him out! For all Jesse’s mouthing off, he proved himself to be the poser!
the better bike won tonite. the only problem with Jr’s bike was the gas tank. JJ makes nice bikes, and this was a nice bike, but like Jr said, JJ has built better. Honestly i was disappointed in JJ’s bike, and his arrogent attitude made it worse talking about how great this bike was. JJ is a piece of crap person and was put in his place tonite. he cant touch Jr as far as design goes. Jr designs great bikes and his team exacutes perfectly. and for all you fools who thinks JJ built this bike alone, santa will be visiting soon and wrestling is real. Yea JJ built his frame, both Jr and Sr have done that in the past. The better bike won tonite.
hey jim johnson, do you watch the show? both Jr and Sr have built their own frames. thats the only thing JJ did that the tuetle’s didnt. And lets not make a big deal about him building his frame, you just put the measurements in the jig, bend the pipe and weld it. JJ does get props for heating and bending the pipe and not using a pipe bender. Also stainless is one of the toughest metals to work with.
for the dude that would be proud to ride JJ’s bike to the Dave Manns bike fest, didnt dave and his wife ask the tuetals to build dave a tribute bike to acution off to pay daves medical expenses? Guess JJ was to busy being a jerk off, or maybe Dave just knew that the tuetals built better bikes
It was a bike build off, there was only one bike, if your confused by this then you have never ridden one, simple as that. I’m not a JJ fanboy, not a chopper nut, but facts are facts, you could only call 1 a bike and that was JJ.
I seem to remember JR riding his bike too. Seems to me like it’s more than just a show piece. Anyone arguing Jesse’s bike is the only one that you can ride, think about being able to see in front of you and comfort of posture. Jesse fails on both counts. Innovation is important here, and Jesse fails again. The stupid OCC thing had a very dangerous control system. The only way to keep it in a straight line was to keep both joysticks at the same position, otherwise it will go to one side or the other. Try taking that on the freeway. They rode it in a parking garage.
I would LOVE to see a “rematch” with biker build-off rules. I think Jr. would surprise a whole lot of JJ-butt devotees with more innovation, a reliable ride and style like Jesse could never dream of. For this build-ff, ride comfort was not one of the criteria. They all would have failed.
If I were to spend big money on a custom ride, it wouldn’t be with Jesse’s shop. After reading about the lawsuit from a customer Jesse was building a car for, over-budget in the hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars-range, it’s clear he doesn’t care about anyone but himself, where Jr. cares for the client and delivers according to their brand, wishes and exceeds their expectations. He does so within budget and in the time frame promised. The market will dictate who succeeds, and it will go beyond popularity into deliverables.
And yeah..JJ’s hand-built frame was nothing new. Jr’s 9/11 memorial bike frame was far more innovative and like nothing built before it. JJ’s built that same frame countless times. I sure hope he would get that right, with no risks and all.
The minute I saw that P-51 Mustang come buzzing in out of the sky, I just new it was over for the others. How could you NOT like that bike. Great job! A Masterpiece!
@ Ace, you are right, about riding, but James is nothing, and just because he built it on his own means s^&t. The others were smart and used a team.
This was a “Biker Build Off” meaning they could build anything they chose. James is nothing but a sorry a$$ piece of dirt. He needs to learn to keep it in his pants. I just hope that his precious daughter doesn’t have to deal with his stupidity and skanks. Sr. is getting to the point of losing his creativity, and Jr. is just getting started. I feel that he was held back by his father’s mouth and lack of respect. In all honesty, I think Sr. was/is jealous of his son, and that is why he rode him so hard and treated him so shi&&y. Both Sr. & James need to learn what respect is. Yea, Jr.s was a “Theme Bike” but I would have voted for him before either of the other two because of attitude, personality, and the way he is overall. You never saw him as hateful as Sr., and you have never heard of the scandals associated with James. So yes, if it was a popularity contest, that is why he won, and it just paved a way for him. WTG.
Still no one has picked up where Detroit bros left off, no one on this show. These three clowns don’t know anything about bike innovation. And doesn’t Jesse know… a TRUE EFF YOU BIKE is a metric chopper boiiiiii
Paul jr built the flashiest and nicest bike by far,and handled himself with class as jesse made himself look like an evan bigger fool. And please jesse quit saying you built your bike from the ground up. Jesse built an average frame with a complicated metal and wouldnt stop kissing his own ass about it. Then called in 8 other guys to build the rest of his bike that was waaaayyyy to freakin high for him. Thats poor design 100%….great job Jr..u kicked ass with talent and didnt need to lower urself to jesses level.
Andu really cant blame Sr for that snowmobile look alike..it was that HDD guy Jason. What the F#&k was he thinking??!!?!
Why on earth would you wanna smell a exhaust fumes and have that shit all over you face lungs and clothing .JR is very stupid person it is
Could somebody show me where all the following rules were? That the bike’s were to be made to hold a certain quantity of gas in its gas tank. That the bikes should be ready to go on a 3,500 mile non-stop trip. That all bikes made, were to be of chopper design. That all bikes were to be made out of certain/specific alloys, for those certain parts of the bike, and what parts were to be made by hand. Etc., etc. Just wondering from all the implications made about the bikes, cause I didn’t happen to see any rules anywhere. Maybe it’s just that competitive force. To fight for your favorite bike building crew and their bike, to throw those rule-less factors against the wall and hope they stick to persuade those others to your favorite bike.
And now some more of what I think! Though I know nobody cares about what I think. It is simply something for me to do while burning time.
I believe none of the three bike building outfits, are at all idiots about building bikes. I believe it was only a contest. I believe all three, are great bike builders. I think all three products that were made, are cool, and it was sort of like picking between Apples, Bananas, and Pineapples. And with this being the way it was for choosing who you liked, that there were no rules for the bike build, it was more like an anything goes contest. But I did like the Paul Jr. Designs’ bike the best, though I did like the other two a lot also (just not as much). Which is why I also think that the next time they have a bike build contest, they should set down some rules and guidelines, to make more sense in the contest’s competitiveness.
@ Wolfcvagen WTFyou talking about its just a tv show not a DOT/TUV contest
in all sincerity Paul Jr. – you have some good ideas, but consider the following OBJECTIVELY about your own work:
1. show restraint in your designs and let the design speak for itself. Subtlety is profound
2. Proportion is paramount. That bike you made had potential until the wheels and huge “tank”. Look at a picture of you sitting on it and it looks ridiculous due to the bad proportions. Boardtrack my ass.
3. Never lose sight of the function of a design. Your bike should have LOST due to its 1 gallon tank. Any product design should FUNCTION no matter how gorgeous pop culture thinks it is. You think Ferrari would be anywhere today if all they could do is design a vehicle that goes 40 miles?
I couldn’t get to work and back on your bike before it ran out of gas. Think about it.
yo know whats great, everybody(on both sides) are admitting Jr had the better looking bike. The only reason everyone is saying Jr shouldve lost was because of his 1 gallon gas tank. Well that just tells me everyone thinks everything else about the bike was better then everyone elses. how come nobody is kicking dirt on senior? since gas tanks are so important to everyone, Sr’s bike didnt even have one. Where is he gonna charge his batteries? Will he be able to make a long trip? Was his entry even street legal? I guess everyone just has a problem with Jr’s bike is because of the 3, he is on top
oh, let me get this off my chest, not that he will ever read this… JESSE JAMES, you are a big punk. You are a hypocrite and just above better then average bike builder. As a person you are a piece of trash. I hope your daughter never gets treated like the way you treat women. As a bike builder you are a arrogant prick! You arent that good! For you to say you are the best in the world at what you do, you couldn’t even beat that what you call “cake decoraters” over at PJD, what do you think you can do against someone like Billy Lane? Not only does he build every part of his bikes, he has better imagination and design in his foot pegs then your whole bike has!
It’s too bad that part of the contest wasn’t riding the bike to ‘Vegas. A 5-700 mile run to the show would have weeded out the “bike” from the posers.
Funny. That bike was a POS. Just by reading the comments, you can see this was about popularity…..people & especially women are mad at Jesse because he cheated on SB…who cares??? Do you all hate Ashton too for cheating on Demi??? It’s the way Hollywood works. Why the Hell were they ever together in the 1st place is the real question. Made no sense. Jesse has been with strippers & Porn stars before Sandra. That didn’t raise a red flag????
However, it was a bike build off. Jesse made the only bike out of the 3. Like many have said, make them all ride the bikes 700 miles & see who had the better bike.
Well just like everything Discovery touches that was great when it started, the build off is crap now.
Billy Lane vs. Roger Bourget….Indian Larry vs. Paul Yaffe…….now that was good TV & real build offs. Chopper vs. custom bike. All real bikes. After that, it all turned to crap & that’s when OCC & American Chopper came around. Now can they please go away?? The fact that anyone even watches those clowns is the funniest part of all this.
Jesse James vs. OCC was about 7 years too late.
First off there were only 2 motorcycles in the competition. Sr’s motorcycle wasn’t a motorcycle. Interesting, yes, motorcycle, no.
Since when does a custom show bike need to be practical or rideable for any distance? I know that argument has been around for years, but face it, rideability doesn’t win shows. We’ve all seen motorcycles featured on this very website win shows that have been even less rideable than anything on the TV show, so that’s a non-argument in my opinion.
And what makes JJ’s bike more rideable anyway? A bigger gas tank? At least on Jr’s bike you can see where you’re going. You don’t ride a bike like that any distance anyway unless you are young and dumb or have such a weak ego that you need to prove something. ‘Sure as hell not because it’s fun.
‘Not that I’m a Jr, fan or anything. His bike was exactly what I would have expected. An overall sort of aesthetically challenged bike with beautifully crafted individual components. Love it or hate it, it was easily the most unique bike of the three, and would be the bike I would spend a few minutes looking at if it was in a show. ‘Hands down the easy winner.
JJ’s bike was a total disappointment. I’ve seen the same bike a zillion times, and probably would walk right by it if it was at the Rat’s Hole show if I didn’t know it was built by JJ. (It is helpful that he put’s his name all over it, just in case you didn’t know who built it.)
As to all the who built what, both bikes were fabricated and assembled by a large crew. Nobody built their own engines or drive trains (with the exception of Sr’s non-bike. HEY SKEETER!). Nobody did (or ever does) their own paint (I wonder what Ness, Finch, and Perewitz think about this new generation). In the end, it’s all about the finished product and it matters not whether components were formed with a hammer and anvil or CNC machined from billet.
I didn’t care for any of the bikes…Cyril has made bikes much more pleasing to the eye, e.g., Bombshell, Kiss My Wheels (my favorite), and Exotica just to name a few.
If the criteria is to see how many miles the bikes can go without breakdown, why wasn’t a stock H-D Blackline entered?
The show was a joke as were the contestants with their ultra ego’s on display.
Jessie, you are a HOTDOG! That’s what you did: Dogged it!Do you know who sponsored Paul Jr? Sondra Bullock! That is the rumor! If so she finally made a great investment from JJ. Is that true that Junior saved and sent you back the Bottomof the Cake and You ate it!
How does it feel Jessie? That you got smoked by a guy who likes Hot Dogs and Slurphy’s? Truly Juniors Bike was #1!
Indian larry is looking down laughing his a** off !!
Junior’s bike had an Indian engine. The bottle top rocker covers were the telltale. Go Indian!
man come on, a riveted bike, are you serious, jesse won it hands down with his building of a dream bike, did you gys watch this video above, it didnt last very long because jr’s bike wouldnt go any further because of no gas, anyone can assemble, jesse makes a true build, if you want assemble like jr does, go to wal mart in the toy model section, just syaing, the same type of work, hardware dept at wal mart also sells rivets!!!!!!!!!!!
JJ thought Walmart was the best outlet for his clothing line.
Jr’s bike is just a garage ornament and thats all……. Motorcycles are made to be ridden and ot looked at. I’m just blown away at how people who dont get it? If these bikes the two Tuetels make are so great? How come I never see there bikes on the road? Because half you ass hats that watch this shit weekly dont ride and the next day will be on your ass watching survivor and then the day after that watching Dancing with the stars and so on. I would LOVE to know how many actually RIDE that watch this show?
What a wast of 3 hours of my life. I look forward to Jesse’s new show and will watch it. if i’m not out RIDING!!!!!!!
Paul Sr would have won if the competition were golf carts on steroids. Jesse very talented but his creativitiy needs a little work, he keep building the same bike over and over again. Paul Jr very creative, always thinking out of the box stretching the boundaries of bike building. Well deserved win, congratulations PJD
paul jr likes wal-mart, hands down
Paul Jr is an arrogant piece of crap who if it was’t for his father bringing him into the family business teaching him everything he knows and making him a millionaire he’d be flipping burgers down at McDonald’.he’s an ungrateful piece of SHIT, Jesse on the other hand is and always be the best builder out there he gets his hands dirty , his hands are on 95-100% of that bike Jr will hold a piece up say it looks good then have one of his workers put it on the “bike” and who the hell wants a bike that looks like a plane ? I want a bike that looks like a bike. And just because Jesse cheated on his wife should have nothing to do with his talents as a bike builder.
Thats Hollywood she was away from him 13 mos . at a time filming movies , you mean to tell me she was’t banging any one! Hell she was seen out with Ryan Reynolds 3 days later and was dating him a week after that! Well I think I covered just about everything those people that voted for Jr. Probably never rode a real motorcycle before and just don’t know any better.
Between PJD & JJ & Senior …. Paul blew it out of the park with that design, although Jessie’s bike was very classic. (Why did Jessie studder next to Paul senior when asked about trash talking all the way throughout the show?) Senior’s Bike was a 22nd century bike. Very futuristic. As this is tv and some of it is scripted. It got all of you biker enthusiast, biker armchair watchers, bike builders, bikers, general public, and the like to watch, in a time when this country is turned upside down with all the turmoil our government has produced…. WOW, i said government produced??? OMG! Well, at least we know they have talent in doing something wrong…. In saying that, at least for a few hours, or the last few days we were able to smile a little despite our own trials and tribulations… We can argue that Seniors Bike was not a true chopper, or that Jessie’s bike will get lost in a crowd of clones, or that Junior’s bike can’t make it to the corner gas station, It was a show of how much you liked the bikes…. America has come along way with these chopper build off shows, and vehicle refab show’s, and reality shows in whole. These shows are more or less there to even get your creative juices flowing… What can you build or make? Are you inspired to want to go out and learn a skill? Can you take something to the next level? We may disagree with their politics, life styles, habits, and other traits and characteristics, but we can’t help but to watch…. We can’t help, but to imagine ourselves creating in this way, or innovating something that will launch us into stardom…. PJ, JJ, and Paul SR have alot to be thankful for. For the medium of reality TV, and the support of their constituency and the public as well. We all do too!…. We also have to be thankful for it as well, as this is what inspires us to work with our hands, minds and hearts…. No where in the world do we have this type of entertainment entity, except here in America…. Land of the free, and home of the brave. Surely God Bless America! As for the 3 builders, and also to those that tirelessly express themselves through their own medium, what ever it may be that you do, I salute you! You open the door to more posibilities. Robert Henri an artist of yore, put it best…….. ‘When the artist is alive in any person, whatever his kind of work may be, he becomes an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressive creature. He becomes interesting to other people. He disturbs, upsets, enlightens, and opens ways for a better understanding. Where those who are not artists are trying to close the book, he opens it and shows there are still more pages possible’ …… ‘The Art Spirit’ ,1923, Robert Henri………..
The whole show all you hear is how JJ builds the bike himself with one little helper. Then at the end he bring a complete hot-rod shop crew to his “grass roots” garage. JOKE…Funny how JJ never shows you the mansion sitting next to the “grass roots” garage, because he wants you to think he is a common man,,,,Typical Hollywood loser. JJ didn’t build the Motor – Trans – Wheels – Brake Components -leather seat – paint – grips – drive-train components. So what does that leave? The frame and front end, Does anyone think either OCC or JPD could not build a frame or front end with a table jig like JJ has? Anyone with half a brain could with a jig table.
These three are still on TV? I guess the masses really are @sses. Glad I did not waste an hour or two of my life on this.
Well I can live with Jr. winning although Jesses’s bike was a beautiful classic, just like he said ” one you could actually ride. The old bike build off’s with Indian Larry and Billy Zane etc. you actually had to ride what you built. Paul Sr. could ride his whatever that thing was ( they called it a machine and I thought it was a bike build off ) and mow some yards with the optional mowing deck along the way. I thought the airplane bike was gangly looking way out of proportion a typical theme bike. I did not hear them say it had to be a ” theme bike ” so I guess Sr’s machine was a, I am dumb as a stick theme. Jesse’s theme was a Bike for real bikers not tv’s reality show junkies who don’t know a bike from a toilet lid . I guess building crappy looking theme bikes is better tv than true riding hand crafted ( not from a computer and CNC ) choppers.
Didn’t watch the second show after already seeing the bikes during the first one. I’m pretty sure lots of folks would’ve voted for “D-None of the above” if that had been an option. I do miss the old biker buildoffs where they actually rode a decent distance after the build and then the people present voted. No winners in this contest IMHO.
The “contest” was a joke. Obviously only American Chopper fans voted. Paul Jr’s bike was something out of a Pee Wee Herman movie. What a joke. The two Pauls really are cake makers.
Jesse James Choppers For Life…Ride On Brother!
Nuff said and that’s it. Rest of you morons sit on the side and stop yawning please.
Boss Hawg
Fair or Shame? Shame!
I’d like to see a re-match, using the biker build off rules (where you had to ride 500 miles) That crap that Jr and Sr build wouldn’t have a chance…Way to build a bikers bike Jessie..
A one gallon tank really???
Jesse said it himself, and nobody gets it!! He said theses guys DONT ride!! Give me a F’n break!! Jesse James is and always will be the man!! I hate he has had some screw up’s in his life. (Like he is the only one) But DAMN people what do you want a ride or a trailer queen??
Like he said all this crap (American Chopper Jr vs. Sr) is MADE for TV! I think it was all a popularity contest, and not a bike build off!!
just goes to show you ,put a bunch of shiney shit on a frame and everyone thinks it is the shit ,weather you can ride it futher than 20 miles or not. JJ IS THE TRUE BUILDER. i would ride his bike any where…
Just an FYI… OCC and PJD both sell Production Bikes that you can ride for several hundred miles if you wish. The “Theme” Bikes are for Companies that want to Advertise their Products or Services on Discovery Channel.
Jr Won the Contest hands down. Style and Innovation. Something Bada$$ and different.
JJ’s Bike was a real let-down, I expected waaay more. All that Smack Talk for that? Really?
Sr’s “Bike” was a Freakin Snowmobile that does reverse doughnuts. Fire Pohl and Build a BIKE!
JJ built a bad ass bike for sure and if I was riding one that would be the one I picked (and voted for) but Jr’s bike was a great build that showed tallent. I think everyone has respect for Ron Finch and his bikes arent exactly riders either.
The build off needs to go back to the beginning… I want to see Matt Hotch, Trotta, Detroit Brothers, and all those guys most of us havent heard of yet. Those were great shows and great builds.
I guess it takes someone like JJ to make the Teutuls look good. Remember who started all this stuff, Hugh King.
What the hell was that show? Discovery made this already bad idea even worse. Rehearsed trash talk, Jerry Springer techniques (your dad said this, what are you going to do, Jesse said that, what do you want to tell him to his face), then some more reality TV crap with Dr. Drew trying to put father and son to talk live on TV after showing their arguments….and Jesse, kind of in the middle just trash talking both of them. This show could have been 20 min top.
Seems to me it was staged as usual by Discover because Jr was allowed to bring his crew on stage, gave them more talk time. We didn’t see the OCC crew on stage or Jesse’s buddies. Typical technique from Discover to pre-choose the winner of a competition… not the first time they do this.
Lame…. but congratulations to Jr because he deserved to win this one.
I love each design for different reasons and was happy with the overall outcome but what I took away as far as builders go is that JJ is the better “fabricater” JR is the better “designer”‘ and SR is well… he signs the checks so that has to count for something right =).
Last night we watched “The Emancipation of Paul Teutal Junior”.
All machines had their own merit, and big money was spent on all three.
Art is so subjective, as evidenced by the miriad of comments above.
All three accomplished one important goal, to get people talking about
them, and to raise their profiles. They will all reap great rewards ($) in
the future from this spectacle.
Jr made an art piece that will look great in some corporate foyer
or aircraft museum. Jesse made a ‘real world’ bike in his own distinct
style, and senior built a novelty that should bee seen in Terminator 8.
It was what it was: ENTERTAINMENT and nothing more!
America is full of talent, from coast to coast. these are merely three of
thousands of creative and talented builders in the greatest country in the world!
At least the Teutals mended their fences.
God Bless America!! Where would we be without our beautiful country!!
Merry Christmas everyone!!
@CFisk04—-well, that’s one way of putting it out there, total respect to your comments. However, a couple of points:
1. This, ALL this(TV, Blogs, talk) is exactly what JJ wanted. WCC was built on this exact dynamic(hate for the public at large) JJ is a Puppet Master and will reemerge in some other form and when the next craze hits. He’ll have a backlog of $$$ making ideas for the next Dyna/ Softail Weekend outlaw to adorn their magic carpet. It’s eminent.
2. Regarding Dave Mann: I recall a bike built as a tribute after Dave passed, not that Dave personally ordered one. Now…. Dave Mann was a true inspiration for what was once sublime and cool. Real Outlaws and Tramps (I am not one, but know a couple) see beyond TV’s feeble attempt of slick editing to bring out the “Inner Outlaw” in you.
I think in the motorcycle was a byproduct of what they all set out to do, and in the end they all won.
—-JJ gets the motivation he needs to get back into the scene
—-JR vindicates himself as his own bike builder and not part of the OCC Empire
—-SR manipulates the spotlight to keep consumers spending and licensing agreements in tact.
After few minutesof watching, Mrs. left asking” what in the world was Sandra thinking?”
Very well stated Marc.
I think the winner of the bike build off was right on!!!
In my opinion, OCC was depending on Jason Pohl for design for the second time and he just doesn’t
have what it takes to win a competition. This will always happen if changes are not made. OCC did nothing for this competition but design. Some one made the frame some one else designed and installed the machanic’s.
Jesse James’s bike was new design in the 1970′s, he is stuck there. The bike looked good but it was nothing new. His secret team had no input in what to present for competition. That hurts a team during competition.
PJD is a mixture of mind and hands as a team. This concept will always win over one person one mind one design.
What are my credencials, how do I come up with this conclusion? I have less then 20 hours driving a bike after my drivers license. Served in the Navy 20 years and we belived in the three “P”. We were always sucessful because the 3 P.
1. P= Planning
2. P =Preperation
3. P =Perfection
With the 3 “P” you cant go wrong!!
Please contact me if you feel its nessary.

I kinda dig Jr.’s bike. How Sr. rides that thing with a straight face I’ll never know!
I love all of the anonymity associated with the haters! Way to stand behind your negative comments!
Oh Man…where do I begin with all this HorseCrap!!! The majority of you society spoon-fed yuppie-fu*ks ain’t got a clue as to what this whole “Biker” thing is [and was] all about. Captivated by useless, superficial, shiny hunks of junk! Got any substance? Is it functional? Or do you use it as a coffee table? Worthless Vanity at it’s Finest! Does the title “American Chopper” mean anything? Apparently Not!! “Look what the’ve Done to my song, Ma! They’ve taken it down and turned it all around, Ma!!” Took something real ‘an free and turned into a shallow, sad, caracure demonstraiting the demise of Freedom and Individuality!! So phoney it makes me want to puke! If I hafta explain any more…you dip-sh*ts wouldn’t understand!! I’d rather shoot ya than waste my breath!! Kinda interesting on a side note; I just got recently divorced ‘an she got everything. All I wanted was my bikes/trikes ‘an tools. One of ‘em was her ’77 Shovelhead handicapped trike [16 year-old kid ran a red light down in Austin, TX over 30 years ago that broke her back 'cause had the passenger pegs mounted high on the rigid frame]. Anywho, that ’40 Flathead frame got bent in the accident so I decided to take the driveline outta her trike ‘an radically stretch the Flattie frame ’bout 9 inches ‘an put a long springer I had around on it. I about crapped my drawers when I saw Jesse’s bike SONOFA!! Same set-up! I knew I liked him fer some reason [didn't always though]. Wiz
Excellent show!!!!
I value anything that brings attention to our passion. All the haters keep your mouth shut if you don’t have anything nice to say about the three guys that stood up on that stage last night.
Far as I’m concerned….they are ALL WINNERS!!
Hopefully Discovery will realize that we are ready for another biker -build-off. Bring on Matt Hotch, Jerry Covington, Joe Martin, Vince Dahl, Alfredo Carlini, Paul Cox, Eddie Trotta.
Let’s get it on!!!
El Loco
Jesse James lives!!!
Shame as far as I’m concerned. Junior abandoned the respect of many when he decided to buy a foreign badged truck and send the profits to Asia. Maybe he out to try and sell his bikes only to Asian customers.
Jr is the poser & a primadona who couldn’t build anything by himself. The PJD bike was gawdy & ridiculous. Sr is an ass 4 ever hiring Jason Poole & their gizmo was way inappropriate for a bike build-off. Jesse is a punk & a thug but of the 3 is the only real builder. Too bad he’s just limited creatively as his bikes only ever vary in paint job & slightly in geometry. Since this was a bike build-off Jesse should’ve won. If it had been a toy build-off then OCC. And if it had been an abstract art contest then PJD.
Nothing wrong with cake decorated bikes!
There is a market for collectables and JR knocked it out of the park.
Paul Sr. was smart!
He knew he’d only have a 33% chance of winning and didn’t want to look bad, so he made a smart decision and didn’t build a bike. If he lost, he had a built in excuse and saves face! How can he lose, if he never entered a motorcycle? Like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Wow, can’t believe Sr would let the talents of Rick be embarrassed like that! The boy has talent but if Sr wants to keep jason on board designing bikes then his company also deserves the same! The kid jason should be designing for nintendo,ps3and xbox! His bikes prove my point! PJD has more talent than OCC and JJ will ever have! I can only imagine the excuses that OCC and JJ will use! Hope they can leave it at the BEST MAN WON !PAUL JR, VINNY AND THE REST OF PJD, YOU GUYS KICKED THAT ASS!
All these “pro builders” and Monday morning quarter backs… I would love to see a build off with us regular folks… Discovery.. You can have a better show without the high over head of inflated salaries to these Hollywood pukes.. I will be the first! Lets get a show together. Regular guys.. 30 days, our garages and you flip the bill for parts, capped at 15,000 out the door. Winner keeps the bike
I think for the new year the discovery channel should have the top 10 builders in America ( this would include You Cyril) and the first night do short Bios on all 10 Builders no showing the bike for the competition and at the end of the first night show all the Bikes but not who the builders were and have the call in voting the next 18 hours. No one would really know who’s bike is who’s , which would take care of the who has the most fans, and the next night pair up the builders to the bikes and announce the winners. Cyril do you think you could pitch this idea to the Discovery people. input on this idea is greatly accepted
Dragon Bob. Maybe…
Who give a shit who won ! Choppers are dead, bling bikes belong in the hood and the other thing looks like something you step on and kill. Cool looking bikes died with Indian Larry!!!!
It is strange Paul Jr. gets offended that his Dad picked a “total stranger over his own son”. What is that? He wants preferential treatment instead of his work earning respect.
Since when is a P51 Mustang so gaudy? There is also nothing out of proportion on one of the most beautiful planes ever.
total waste of 3 hours, still i only saw one machine i would seriously be seen in public on, i think everyone knows it, choppers rule !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is anyone thinking like me? Is it possible that JJ, repeating that the Teutuls are cake decorators, not bike builders, irritated the Discovery people? In substance he was saying that the American Chopper show is terrible because it gives a wrong and bad image of builders, of bikers. Was the result rigged for this reason?
Jr’s bike reminds me of a jacked up 85′ caprice with 30″ rims
Who really thinks JJ bike was a “rider”? Anyone who thinks so please get on a rigid springer with bad geometry…ride to Sturgis and back and then tell me your opinion.
The front end consisted of early 1900′s technology and the frame was a rigid. Yes the material is expensive and nice looking but any cheap import cruiser sold today could do circles around it. Any engineer and professional builder can look at JJ and Paul Jr’s bikes and see they both could not keep up with any modern v-twin, cruiser, or import on the road.
I can appreciate the craftsmanship in Jr’s and JJ’s bikes, but they both didnt have nice lines. JJ Tank was nicely shaped and so was the billet accents on his old frame design. Jr had much effort and craftsmanship in his tank but putting the exhaust through the tank is purely intelligent if you would like to ride the motorcycle.
Sr, all I have to say is WTF? It was a bike build off, not a science project that cant reach 10 mph.
If anything they should get real talent for these events and add additional aspects to the judging. Such as performance ability, thats why we have motorcycles correct? To ride?
They should do a Survivor/Gilligan`s Island version where the contestants have to build a bike with coconuts, driftwood and fish guts.
What an ugly, smoking piece of unrideable crap. Bikes first and foremost, should be built to RIDE, not to be gawked at. Say what you want about Jesse James’ personal life; I’m not about to make excuses for him. But his personal life also has not a damn thing to do with building motorcycles, which he does much better than the OCC clowns.
Anybody remember that Jesse has build a theme bike or two in his career? One in particular has some features similar to PJD’s entry in this contest (http://www.cyrilhuzeblog.com/2008/09/22/jesse-james-airstream-sidecar/) and reviewed right here on Cyril’s website.
My experience is that bike builders, like “fine” artists, have big egos and, consequentially, possibly overinflated views of their own skill and undervalued views of the skills of others. Trash talking is part of the game.
Jesse has to look THROUGH the risers on his bike – but it’s rideable, as he demonstrated.
Junior’s bike has suspension front and rear, a boardtracker feel, and a bladder-size gas tank – but it’s rideable, as he demonstrated.
Senior has a machine from a video game – – but it’s rideable, as he, too, demonstrated.
What were the rules set down to determine the winner of this contest? Were they abided by? Then each of us can have our own opinion, but the name-calling just makes the name-caller look like a child or a drunk. Man up.
Thanks Whitebear it couldn’t have been said better. All three did a great job and Discovery did a great job in provided all of us entertainment. I would love to have any one of the two bikes and that track thing you can’t ride on the street but would be great in the woods destroying crap. Both of the two bikes can and should be ridden with pride.
And my last thank you is to Cyril Huze for this site. These comments are better than the build off.
What a piece of crap bike. One of the criteria should have been the the bike had to be ridden to the competition. Jr wouldn’t have won if this was a true competition.
My analysis is as follows: Sr’s effort was not even worth seeing, Jr’s bike was way out of proportion (looked like an over weight elephant passing everything except a gas stations) and Jesse’s bike was vintage old school (nothing new). Of the three, Jesse’s is the only machine that I would even think of buying. What a waste of time.
I’m not surprised. He did build the best bike hands down. Now, what do the other guys do? Hopefully they take their inflated egos and go home along with that big pay check from discovery channel.
I did not watch it…….
30 years ago, (when I was a motorcycle racer) on the back of my bike I had a sticker that said, “When the green flag drops the Bullshit Stops”
All three knew that the best builder would be decided by a vote of the public.
All three accepted the challenge and set about trying to win.
Over the years Paul Jr has focussed on building a team to create unique motorcycles.
During the competition Paul Jr avoided talking smack about his competitors and focussed on building his bike.
I know Paul Jr and I know that Paul Jr focussed on building what he felt was the most innovative bike in the world. That is what Paul Jr thought it would take to win.
After all the BS, when the votes were counted Paul Jr won.
Thanks JJ you was just what that show ( biker BUILD off ) needed. Enough already about he said this and he said that Bla Bla Bla, cut the BS ,shake hands and start building again. If I wanted to watch a soap opera I’d watch general hospital, Oh thats right there not on any longer. JJ you got taken to the cleaners with that biker build off.
Jesse James stuck with the old shit because he is stuck in the past. They didn’t say this was an old school bike competition. All JJ could say is well you can ride my bike. Hell you can ride Paul Jr’s too. Another thing, it’s not like Pauly can’ t go back and modify the tank.
So to JJ and all his flunkies, Suck It Easy!
@Vince
Didn’t you have a vested interest in this Build off? They were your Fork and Swingarm correct?
I would like to have seen Discovery have a set of rules that were publicly viewable, I would have also like to see which builder wanted what conditions, Paul Jr stated they were the last to agree to the build off and mentioned having to negotiate what they wanted or did not want to happen in the build off. As an Art bike I guess it was ok anyone who has followed the AMD chamionship has seen 100 times better and more unique, I thought myself JJ would have had to bring something better than what he did to win over the type of fans that were voting.
In the end, this was:
A nice payday for all three
A basic commercial for JJ new show
A payday for Discovery and Pilgrim
Out of all of this I hope it does bring maybe some new business to the local shops, even if its small.
Sr should be selling assault vehicles instead of crappy horse bikes
The interview posted on here with JJ a few days ago proves he is full of crap. he said he built the bike and the only help he had was a guy unloading the raw materials from his truck? Seriously? Did he not think DC would show the footage of 10 other builders building his bike for him.
The competition was between Jessie James, OCC and PJD, not Jessie James, Pal Jr and Paul Sr… why wouldn’t PJ and PS use their employees to help build the bike.
Jr was a class act. He brought every PJD employee to the build off and gave them all the credit. If he ever comes out with a stock bike, I’ll be in line to get one! Class act if you ask me. Much better than JJ and his constant trash talking and useless rants.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Jr is voted the best of the “days of our lives, chopper assembly” soap opera. I doubt there ever was a vote counted and this was all prescripted…….. The rematch is probably already half filmed before this show even aired. There is an hour of my life I have lost forever with nothing to show for it. Back to SPEED and SPIKE for real bike/ car/ truck building.
First I have to say I’m ashamed that our industry that I love so much has lowered itself to this. In the real world, none of the bikes were ridable bikes, at least not on a daily basis and for any serious distance.
Jr’s bike has a 20 mile range? Really? And that’s the winner? Motorcycles are meant to be ridden, not used as furniture which is basically what he built. The work involved was amazing and done very nice but ti’s still a really expensive piece of furniture.
Sr’s machine was not a motorcycle. A really fun looking toy but still not a motorcycle.
Jesse built the most ridable bike but still not really a daily rider to me. A stainless frame really isn’t a great start. Brittle, especially in a rigid frame design. His overall design gave me pause, especially with no gusset on the neck. I’d have liked an anti vibration tube myself but a gusset really is called for especially given the rake and stretch he used. Lots of stress on that steering neck/downtubes area to me. While that was my personal favorite because it was somewhat ridable it still seems like a TV show build to me. I could see someone riding it as a barhopper or maybe on short hops but it ain’t gonna be ridden to Sturgis next summer.
I’d really like to see a show where daily riders are built. I doubt the rigid frames would be used so much.
I can’t believe how many people like Paul JR’s POS . You are the same morons who put all that plastic chrome crap and leds on your bikes and only ride to the coffee shop once a week decked out in a pair of chaps and a riding jacket on when 80 degrees outside.
It’s a reality show people! No different than all the other scripted reality show crap that is on the tubes. All three probably went and had a beer afterwards. Discovery is the real winner here. AC ratings go up, Jesse get a new show. All you peeps act like Jesse cheated on your sister.
Paul JR, what a ridiculous bike, just like all the other bikes they built. Great for lobbies, or hang on the wall. Any of that you claimed such high praise for JRbike ride it? or ride any of their bikes?? If they are ridable!! What you may write about JJ you have to admit, at least his bikes are ridable, and he actually rides unlike the Tuttles! JJ should have won, i was surprised it went the other way, admit it. Nice to see JJ back where he belongs, building bikes!
And? I watched it! That’s all that really matters to the Discovery Channel. Now on to real life here at home. Love and respect to all.
I am certainly glad that DC has pulled the plug on AC the tutuels drama show and the whole theme bike fiasco. Last show Feb 12, Discovery please bring back a real show about bikes and the fabricators who craft them. The family realitydrama garbage is done run it’s course, the fat lady has sung, te train has left the station 3 hours ago, We are all tired of this garbage, I for one will never get back the 3 hours I wasted in watching this fiasco, it was and is a popularity contest, the kid won before any vehicle was revealed for anyone to see.
It never was about the best bike one wasn’t a bike, one wasn’t rideable, the other was a bike. No rules no criteria no shake down ride WHAT A JOKE I want a refund, I WANT MY 3 HOURS OF MY LIFE BACK.
Cyril, You’ve created the essence of what a real V Twin custom motorcycle is all about, many times. Jesse has many times too. Jr continues to copy from others (look at Fred Kodlins bike from the 50th S&S Builds) Sr has lost it WTF. It’s all entertainment. I’ll say it again these idiots just want more money in their bank accounts
I RESPECT JAMES AS A BIKE BUILDER, BUT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE CHANGE, PAUL BUILDS BIKES FOR HIS CUSTOMERS TO MAKE A LIVIVING, A PRODUCT IS NOT JUST WHAT A PERSON LIKES IT IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS IF THEY ARE PLEASED THAT IS WHAT MATTERS.
AS
AND FOR JAMES DOGGING AND CUSSING PEOPLE JUST IS NOT COOL
Did anyone really think that this was a competition?? This was decided before the first show was aired on Sunday. And the media darling won because the people whos only associations to a bike is their kids Schwinn in the garage. The people that voted for this never rode, owned, or touched a motorcycle in there life. bring back real builds with real rules not a rigged popularity contest .
did you see jessie james face when they said paul jr,was the winner,,,,
TX LADY is right. If you bang whores you cant build a bike. Isnt that what bikers do? Bang whores….. all three bikes sucked. One is a snow toy,the other is a monster truck with a 1gal tank and the other you cant see where your going. Clearly built by whore bangers.
When DC jumps ship on JR/SR is there still going to be a market for theme bikes? These companies want the air time, the 1 hour info-mercial and the cindicated advertising from the re-runs. If it was not for DC neither of the Pauls would have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of
Right on Boss Hawg.
Justice Served… Discovery TLC has canceled Occ television show. The End!
Jessie James,
Have you lost your mind.? … were you drinking Draino before, during and after the build.?
I’ve seen you do GREAT work — but– that bike you built was something from a Thursday night bowling tournament …
The sad part is, you bragged and bragged … you bragged on a bike that could be bought anywhere with a bad credit card and still get bonus miles back.
JR made you look like the chump of the year.. you didn’t get beat, you got castrated — how about 3 years in detox this time.
sad.
-
I don’t understand the hero worship for the classless Jesse James. The only thing about him I like is his old school fabricating skills. Beyond that, he acts like a juvenile…a punk, a child. I guess I’m too old. I can appreciate his skills but can’t get beyond his grandiose allusion of himself and his inability to communicate like a mature person.
I really felt let down by all the bikes. For me a bike must be functional AND aesthetic. Sr’s wasn’t a bike. Jr’s 30″ rims defeated any prospect of aesthetics and JJ’s bike was not pleasing to the eye either with it’s frame dimensions.
For me, Cyril Huze has built the most aesthetic bikes ever, e.g., Bombshell, Kiss My Wheels (my favorite), and Exotica just to name a few.
For all the talk about a 1 gallon fuel tank –
the Bugatti Veyron gets 5 mpg and under acceleration gets 2.1 mpg,,which means it would empty (26.4 gallon) fuel tank in about 12.5 minutes. Does that make a VW a better car, because you can drive it further?
Good for JR
I would assume that most people on this website actually ride motorcycles, but how could any RIDER actually consider what PJ built as a motorcycle? I’m not saying i was overly impressed with JJ’s bike, but at least it was a motorcycle instead of a overblown POS. just cuz you can put 30 inch wheels, rivets, brass, and a bunch of other shit on a bike doesnt mean you should. i would challenge anyone, including PJ to actaully ride that bike accross the state of new york, let alone accross the country. If it is unridable, it is no longer a motorcycle.
Great job in the video PJ, even my wife can ride a motorcycle in strait line. How about you ride that shit through a corner or two.
Had there been three divisions: Best Metal Work – Jessie. Always admired JJ’s passion for old-school blacksmithing. Remember when he used to call himself a glorified welder? JJ – where’s the humility?
Original Design – Senior. Let’s face it, no one has ever seen anything like that before. Kind of reminded me of a Can-Am Spider/Transformer. People’s Choice – Junior. Looks like a bike that one might see at the AMD World Championships.
Passed by one of those cooking channels on TV the other day and saw that the three contestants were given the same ingredients. It was up to them to create something original. Humm – sounds like a great “recipe” for a bike build off show. Give the builders the same motors and trannys. They have to pick accessories from the same vendors. Give them the raw materials and do not allow the use of CNC machines, waterjets, etc. Make the playing field as level as possible. Then let’s see who can build the best bike. And, let an indepedent panel decide which bike is the most rideable.
Merry Christmas!!
Jesse`s bike was a real motorcycle. wake-up people.
Cyril, I don’t understand how that thing won? It looks like something from the Will Wonka Factory. Do people really think that’s a real chopper?
Danny don’t you think that is a little extreme? I would probably guess almost half the Harley riders out their today haven’t riden their bikes that far in one sitting. If I had a support vehicle with gas (Like they often used on the ‘BIker Build Off’ series) I could ride Paul’s bike across New York. Not saying it would be all that comfortable of a ride but then again most custom competition show choppers aren’t. Now Paul SR’s “bike” on the other hand you could certainly make the argument on it being street legal or not. At least in the Summer =).
Pretty sure this whole show was a fake show to get sympathy for Jesse James. Pretty sure he came to the discovery channel with the whole idea. Of course his bike was the best, but he knew and the other retards knew it as well. All three are laughing all the way to the bank looking over new TV contracts. Pure nonsense I can’t even believe Im taking the time to write this other than I love real motorcycles. Isn’t building a ‘motorcycle,’ supposed to be the ‘theme?’ A motorcycle is supposed to be a motorcycle right? not something else??
Well well,
Exactly what we all expected…Jr. is the good guy. Sr. is the Ass and Good has again triumphed over eveil. Jr and Mikey always take the high road and again are the victums… Jesse James gave us a little builder credibility with another 14 year olds mentality searching for another 15 min. of fame…….with an old school bike that he has been building over and over for 10 years. A little hug with Dad and Son ( Sr. and Jr. ) makes mom feel like maybe the boys will at some point “play nice” again and have Thanksgiving together.
Face it folks…Jesse is searching for another TV deal. Jr and Sr are woking to preserve a really tired TV show… and Discovery is trying to keep the cash register ringing with T-Shirts and Ad dollars. It’s way past over for these guys. Leave it to discovery Channel to somehow put life into a “dead horse”. This whole deal is more about “Jerry Springer” than any motorcycle building and it belongs in the “it’s over file”.
The fact is Cyril and guys like him builds real inovative forward machines… and guys like him don’t make it to Discovery because they have too much class to show their Ass on national TV for the sake of ratings.
Sr. is the best T-Shirt saleman ever but his WWF fog machine is :way old” for the real Biker Community or any adult to buy in. It’s all pretty much an insult unless you’re still watching the WWF or Monster Trucks and believe Hulk Hogan is for real.
Please Stop… We are all embarresed.

For those of you that thought JJ had a chance you are drinking the Kool Aid.
The only folks that are going to vote for him are garage builders and industry folks.
The problem is compared to the general public is like comparing a grape to a watermelon.
He never had a chance. The public hates him due to his personal life.
Also the public hates senior bc of what he did to Jr. That only leaves Jr. The general public loves theme bikes. Most in the industry feel they are distasteful.
Pretty easy to pick a winner based on these facts alone. I won a dollar doing so. Eat it JL, I’m up one! Ha ha.
The other thing I find funny are the people bashing under a fake alias or name.
If you have something to say, stand behind it. Too many keyboard warriors.
Talent:
Jr’s team can obviously build a bike. My hats off to anyone who can do this assembly or pure fabrication. My issue is, why does he have to always build themes? This would have been a great opportunity to build a true bike without being a theme. Probably due to my first point. Jr’s team is good at taking someone else’s creativity and design and incorporating it onto a motorcycle. No original creativity or ideas, just morphs.
The Craftsmanship JJ showed was made to look so easy people are dismissing it as nothing?
I could care less about the F bombs but the use of the word “like” made me feel I was listening to my 14 year old and her friends. He obviously hung out with Cat Von D to long/much?
Most of the things he said about the Tutles are how many in the industry feel, and he said it to them on their show? Too funny.
The only thing I didn’t like was DC saying, The Best Builder in the World is” …..
No, the best builder in the world was crowned at the AMD World Championships in Stugis this year.
Was channel surfing and fell into the Build-Off about the time the “three experts” were called in to inspect the offerings.
Even on TV it was obvious that the JJ scooter was way out front in terms of attention to detail and fit & finish (as i recall the experts also commented to that effect).
However, after the inspection, when asked to give their judgement. one of-em said “Paul’s is way ahead and beyond” (or something to that effect)…. to which the MC corrected him and said “you mean Paul Jr.”
At that point it was obviously a ( fixed?) pointless popularity contest…… and turned it off.
Looking at the yammering throng of idiots in the audience i thought….. thanking God i don’t have to rely on them to make a living…… But then i remembered “they also vote…..
-nicker-
It wasn’t a bike show, it was a personality contest. The sheeple have spoken.
“Vince
Jr’s bike reminds me of a jacked up 85′ caprice with 30″ rims”
Good comparison, you put in a few words what it boils down to.
Those style of cars are called Donks.
Paul jrs bike … Looked different and you would look cool for 20 miles before you ran out of gas . You could get laid with a bike like that only if a chick likes the smell of burnt oil fumes all over you . I would say if i seen that going down the road with the smoke Pouring out of the pipes i would think it looks like it needs a ring job .
Paul sr bike or what ever … Looked wild and if they were filming blade runner 2026 i would say we have a winner but not this time .
JJ is a real builder that built a real bike .
I build cars and most barret jackson cars are never driven . They are trailered to shows . Unloaded win a trophy and reloaded . My cars are real drivable street machines . Badass and drivable . Jessie james built the real deal
If I hear”dude that is sick” one more frigging time I’m gonna get sick
As a hyper-miling sport tourer, I find it ironic that “rideability” is an issue here. When JJ goes to Sturgis or Mexico on one of his bikes, gear travels in a support van. I’ve spent more time deciding what goes and what stays than most spend in the saddle.
That said, I like them all. Jesse, Larry, Billy, Arlen, Fairless, Chica…they can all build great bikes. I like Yaffe, too, and some of the the Teutels work. There’s room for them all.
I get that PJD builds theme bikes because that’s what they’re in business to do. And I get that both PJD and JJ played to their respective potential consumers with this 2-night infomercial. Anybody who thinks this theater was a true competition is naieve.
Personally, I would have liked to see Jr build something that wasn’t paid for already (trust me, that was a client bike), and would have liked to see Jesse be a little more creative. But I understand that I’m not fotting the tab, so flame on, brothers.
Get paid!
I thought Jesse was hilarious, had some really funny lines throughout.
I could see the writing was on the wall there, it was more like “The guy that women hate” Vs. Justin Bieber in an American Idol setting.
The bikes were irrelevant as far as voting goes.
JJ built the only viable bike, it may not be comfy, but it could go across country. Choppers may be art, but they have to work.
Cyril, any truth to the rumor that Jr’s bike was really just built for Titan Aircraft, the manufacturer of the P-51 clone they delivered to his doorstep ” for inspiration” (not marketing on national television) on Discovery’s dime? http://www.titanaircraft.com/t-51.php
Very possible because Jr. hesitated to do this build-off because of a new bike order.
I have to agree with scott . Its sad that there are alot of fantastic builders out there that dont have a show. Reality tv is anything but real. Im sure this is a way to pitch a new show . Its not about who the best bike builder is its about the most money a network can make off of you. Comedians dont call it “last comic standing” the call it ” best agent working”. Its all about selling the brand . If i want a bike that looks like the titanic with working propellers go to Sr or JR if i want a bike that gains respect then i go to anybody else. Great builders it just depends on how much you wanna spend on a name.
what a fucking joke and waste of time. Jr’s bike was a disaster, Jesse didn’t even fucking try to make anything new. Just the same concept he has been doing for 10 years with materials he doesn’t normally use. Sr apparently didn’t get the memo that he was supposed to build a bike and let his retarded troll of a “designer” play to long with a CAD model.
The host was a jackass and just trying to stir things up. Jesse was a prick for no good reason. The whole thing just makes me sick.
Hopefully PJD and OCC go down in flames eventually and Jesse goes back to making really nice custom bikes and hopefully for his sake figures out how to shut his mouth. I think both are doubtful.
This is what is killing anything good and positive in the American custom chopper/cycle scene.
I still want to build my own chopper, and learn how to weld better. Stuff like this doesn’t deter me from building good quality American made parts from what I think are good custom shops. Just fucking depressing, what happened to Motorcycle Mania type shows on discovery? Or Rides…that was great too. Simple premise giving you a look into a custom builder bike/car that wasn’t about fucking drama and grown men acting like children. (eventually arguably Jesse has always acted like a douche)
Everybodys wondering why Sr built a flame throwing snowmobile for a biker build off competition.
Here’s my theory why.
Yes…. he knew all along he would be 3rd place. He made it a two bike competition, could it be a father helping his son.
Bud, Cy – Whether or not we find out “who” the bike was for, nobody wakes up and says, “Man, I’m so inspired by the P-51 that for the first time in my professional life, I’m going to design a bike on it…to enter in a contest against chopper building Jesse James.” Insults our intelligence.
The kid can do some pretty nice work, as evidenced by some of his other bikes. He can also turn out turds like everyone else, as evidenced by this one. But when the goal is “gettin’ paid,” he and Jesse both won.
I think all 3 Guys are Winners in the History of Modern Day Motorcycles and what has influenced the Public accepting Motorcycles and the People who Ride and People who Love this Sport. I really believe that the TV Show’s that all 3 of the Build OFF participants have changed the images of the People who Ride and Love Motorcycling. I really agree that Paul Jr.’s Bike is way over the Top. It is nothing like anything else that he has built. It shows that his creativity is just a small part of his ability to Create. The BIGGEST MISTAKE IS HOW SR. BLEW the true Creator of OCC and all of their success has been 75% to Paul Jr. and 15% to Sr. and 10% to Mikey.
I’m confused. Looks like most of the replies are about Jesse’s personal life. What does that have to do with building choppers?
Have any of you seen pitures of Jr. sitting on his bike? It’s HUGE. I looks like a clown bike. 30″ wheels, exhaust in the face, 1 gallon gas tank. That thing must weigh at least 900 LBS. PJD builds advertising props. His only customers are companies that want their name on television for an hour of advertising that will be played over and over.
Antway, Discovery achieved what they set-out to do, up the ratings of “American Chopper”.
Seriuosly !
The exhaust fumes smack the rider. What the F#$% are all of you ….
who are giving the guy thumbs up thinking ????
I guess there are alot of dumb asses who frequent this blog.
i loved the fact that senior got his .jesse lame also got his and jr is just a good guy . sr. shouldcall o.c.c. foreclosure cycles andjesse herpes simplex should go with inflated ego blind spot choppers
Very disappointed with the Discovery Channel
What happed to the 1000 mile ride
The build off should have been based on the original Biker Build off Show
The rules should have been laid out
The Contest should have been based on build a bike from Raw Iron and not assembly
Why the hell would James brag about his bike being better just because he built it from the ground up, (engine?) sure he did most of the fabrication on it, but junior builds their chopper with his crew, he never denies it, nor ever tells anyone that “HE” build things on his own. What he is is a great leader, and a remarkable designer…. So if anyone wants a build off with him, they are sure to tackle the whole team. And lets be honest… after James told everyone Satan Himself would ride it, I was disappointed to see that the bike looked like something that would disappear in a row of parked choppers.
i also want to point out jrs 30 inch wheels at highway speeds would give twice the m.p.g. over a 16 hog wheelwith a 4 speed trans. so there you go, 2/12 gallon tank with a 6 speed tranny?jesse knows that he just wants to see if we are as ignorant as he is .he cheated on a lady of class and substance with some skeezer whose body art should be scribbled on a 5th grade boys book cover . and i hope paul jr. realises his dad will never change ,he is an abuser and he is not capaple of loving himself let alone his wife or kids. paul jr. take my advice your life has been going steadily uphill since o.c.c. your old man will abuse that pack of yes men excluding rick, at foreclosure cycles and jesse, remember how you said years ago your choppers were ahead of their time?well geuss whatyou fool! now they are an outdated thing of the past. just like you, i wouldnt watch your show if it was filmed on my lawn, you are a no class infant like pig and i guarantee you think you are the coolest guy you ever met paul and his crew are solid non vindictive family men who will grt a decent mans vote every time!
Sr’s was cool as a concept. Jr’s was cool as a client build. Jesse’s was something I’d like to ride…so the way I see it in respects to effect on industry is like this:
Sr=Nothing for the industry…on his way out and hanging on by a string. Once the TV money goes away in another year…and it will, then he’ll fold the shop and retire
Jr=Nothing for the industry….lots for himself. You want a theme bike built, something outlandish, over the top…he’s your man. He’ll blow your mind with smoke, mirrors, bells and whistles. Nobody’s going to Paul’s shop, either one of them, to purchase a bike to ride.
Jesse=embedded int he industry, building bikes that you can ride, offering parts you can bolt on or build off of=opportunity for the industry…slim, but there is some opportunity.
Y’all need to get over your moral judgment bullshit with Jesse and realize the two egomaniac Teutels are such assholes that they disembowled their families over BOTH of their egos and have capitalized off that disharmony to the tune of millions. Great folks…great role models right? The disrespect Jr shows to his father ought to have seen him getting knocked upside the head. Yeah, Sr.’s a prick too, but Jr sounded like a little girl screaming and throwing shit.
Just my .02….but there was only bike up there…the others were motor driven monstrosities.
All you holier than thou folks should get off your cloud too. Discovery made out in all of it, and so did each of the contestants. Nothing is going to be value added from this show…except the slim chance that one of the three could get another bike or two to build next year.
Bill Hicks, a “non-vindictive family man”? Are you serious? Explain how JR is always undermining SR’s attempts to re-connect with Mickey? JR brings Mickey back into his shop so he can keep an eye on him, and then constantly gripes about him. JR claims to be a Christian, but displays very few Xian ethics.
It’s true Jesse built a bike you can ride. As the owner of a ridged chopper they are a real treat on a long trip.
Jr build a cool bike to look at, but I would ride it
And Sr build a ……? And I would like to own it, what ever it is.
But lets face it all of the “experts” on this site probably ride a Honda. Insecure with their own crap bikes they lash out at the TV characters we watch each week wishing we could own one. If this show was going to be about riding a bike you can ride most of you could continue to go down to your local H.D. dealer and pretend you have enough money to buy a new bike.
Oops I “F’d up”
“Building a bike you can ride”. My apologies.
Jesse James should of won! Jr looks like roland rat and build yuppy shite!
the funniest part was when Jesse called Jrs bike exactly what it is, a hunk of shit
Once upon a time the hard working people of the united states were applauded for building quality in America. And I remember the times when all things were built by hand with pride with no foo foo bullshit. Let it be known that anyone with a talent to build from scratch should be applauded. Don’t give a shit if its all for a stupid little show. Who ever bashed the dudes for doing what they love should get off their lazy ass and try it themselves. Screw your computers, I phones, and what ever. Half of you don’t even know what getting your hands dirty means. Our grandfathers didn’t bust their assess for us to be prissy fags.
You no if you want a good reliable bike by a honda, this was not about a bike to drive it was about creativity ,i have drivin motorcycles from the time i was10 years old , im not a harley or honda or yamaha man i love motorcycles , honestly i would not want to drive any of the bikes mor then 20km thanks , Jr built a incredible looking original bike isn’t that what it was about.
He won because he did a nice job, J James is got a bad attitude i know he is hard core
bike building but bad attitude kill him.
peace
Who and the HELL wants smoke and hot at that in their face all the time”"”"”"”Looks like a girl bike to me.
They need to go back to the first version of bike build off where they built the bike then rode it, if it didn’t make the run the bike was disqualified. thats a real bike not a piece of art that has not legal for street use right on the neck as the occ bikes did back in their heyday. just my .02 cents from a dipstick thats been riding for 25 yrs
Sr. was a joke! Jr showed his (team) can make a phone call and Jesse built a bike. Would love to know how many parts Jr built on his bike! You want a build off? Lock Sr.,Jr. & Jesse is a shop with the same tools and resources with the same amout of time and see who comes out on top. All yea, and ride the d@#@ things! If you know bikes, you know the answer!
Which of the 3 machines would you take for a ride?Sr’s would be good for riding through the out back or snow.Jr’s is for trucking somewhere and showing people what a fine machine you build even if you can’t ride it down the road.JJ built a bike you can crawl on and run down the road.Let those who ride and work on there own bikes say which one is best.
JJ is the poser, the tank he built was similar to one built by Billy lane for the Indian Larry tribute bike. The right bike won!!
Does Sr. actually do anything? The drama of the american chopper show has made me sick for years and I though Jesse’s bike was cool but the same ol thing, although he actually built most of it unlike Jr. and well the other guy. The right bike won!
Don’t get me wrong. Jr did some really nice shit with his tank. It was a fake tank but it did look nice. But the tank and wheels were so big that they made the engine look so damn small. The proportion of the bike was all wrong. Sr did something way out of the box. It wasn’t even a bike. But I would ride the shit out of it in a parking lot ripping some donuts and shit. You can say what you want about Jesse James but he is the only one that built a bike. Bikes are ment to be rode. I build bikes myself and I know what kind of time and energy can go into building them. I also work with a lot of stainless and it is not an easy task. I will bet your asses that all you ladies and gents that are talking shit about Jesse James have never built a bike or even rode one for that fact. Leave the man alone. He didn’t cheat on you. Like the old saying DON’T HATE THE PLAYER HATE THE GAME BITCHES!!! LMMFAO!!
Paul jr is never wrong about anything that has to do with his father
i would like to stick it up his
jake
puals bike looked like a lamp shade
Jesse did all the talking like he created his bike from some iron ore mine or something. If most of you watched the show, did you see he wimped out at the end and had to have 15 of his so called friends come in and actually build the bike for him. I had some friends that were at the build offf show. They were seated before the bikes were brought in . Jr rode his bike in ,Srs bike was brought in on a pallet and they could not get Jesse’s bike to even run long enough to pull it on the stage. It had to be pushed after all it would do is pop, miss, and stall. Doesn’t sound like anything I would like to ride for any distance.
