You go to Sturgis in August, and Sturgis is coming to you in April. At least if you live in Pennsylvania. A newly formed partnership between The Legendary Buffalo Chip, Loud American Roadhouse and Motoring USA has been formed to announce a 3-day mega consumer motorcycle event in Harrisburg, PA, April 15th to the 17th, 2011. The partners declared yesterday that the Sturgis Road Show will bring all the energy, excitement and entertainment of the world’s most famous motorcycle rally, Sturgis, to Harrisburg, in a 3 day extravaganza celebrating motorcycles, riding and the V-Twin lifestyle.

The list of offerings and entertainment at the Sturgis Road Show will include. • Nightly concerts on “The Legendary Buffalo Chip Main Stage” by legendary bands such as Styx, Bachman Turner and Tesla. • Food and drink from Main Street Sturgis in the touring Loud American Roadhouse. • Renowned painter Scott Jacobs featured in an art gallery displaying his work. • Vintage motorcycles and memorabilia presented by the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. • Iconic photographer Michael Lichter featured in a photo gallery displaying his work • The Custom Chrome International Bike Show Series– Sturgis Road Show Championship • The Sturgis Road Show Tattoo Cafe • Fashion and beauty events • Educational seminars • Motorcycle aftermarket product displays and installation areas. Yah, I’m about 2 hours away and I’m not sure I’d want to make the trip west for it.

I like the concept. Thumbs up for a group of guys willing to try something new and push beyond Sturgis. Kind of like an EXPO for bikers!

Gee, Sturgis without havin’ to make that gruelling, pain in the ass, horrendous, ride! What could be nicer! Just another way to cash in on the Sturgis money-making machine! “We can make more dough in the winter too!” How much do you need Woody? Wiz

Is the nearby KwikTrip gonna do the “Wall Drug Experience” and hand out cups of free water? I guess some folks will show up to see the new line of H-D shirts, but I can’t see using the Sturgis name anywhere else. Very tacky, and disrespectful of the greatest rally in the world IMHO.

I went to the Pittsburgh Bike Expo a few years ago in April and it was so cold had to take the 4 wheel.
It’s even too cold for the first day of fishing season then. Is this an indoor event? It’s 20 at night then.
Good idea but, did the organizers ever hear of June? Forget what the groundhog says, they’ll be snow on the ground.
