Paul Teutul Sr. New Chop’ Hair

A corporation as client to build a theme bike? I don’t know any Custom Builder who would refuse such commissioned work. Orange County Choppers made a huge business of mimicking on a 2-wheeler the brand, the logo, the product(s) sold by a corporation.

So, here is a preview of a new theme bike built by Paul Teutul Sr. for the Hair Club the largest company in the hair restoration and hair replacement industry, with more than 95 locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The company was founded in 1976 by Sy Sperling, known by the trademark phrase “I’m not only the Hair Club President, I’m also a client.”

So, lovers and haters you chance to praise/critic the final product in brushed metal and chrome and I am certain you have a lot to say about the gas tank and front end. For those whon watch the TV show, the creation and unveiling of the custom chopper was filmed for a 2-part episode of the Discovery Channel television reality show “American Chopper.” Part I is scheduled to air on Monday, December 27 at 9pm EST and Part II will air on Monday, January 17, 2011. Throughout 2011, the Hair Club chopper will be making appearances at some of the largest public biker events across the country, where folks can enter to win the bike.  Entries will also be taken on line or via the Hair Club Facebook Fan Page . For more information visit Hair Club.

Is it a front end or a ladder? The gas tank looks like Sr. moustache.

  2. 2 Jeez Dec 24th, 2010 at 8:22 am

If it is to test that hair implants don’t fly away while riding, a stock motorcycle was enough.

some new ideas, I like it.

  5. 5 BB Dec 24th, 2010 at 11:47 am

Its different, i enjoy seeing people push the boundaries at risk of critisism. Thats what the chopper scene is all about. It looks like they used two gas tanks in fabbing this one; one in the traditional location and another straddling the downtube vertically, both tanks mated at the leading edge??

Not bad coming from a Teutul. Not my style, but something new, for show…

  7. 7 Cantrell Dec 24th, 2010 at 12:16 pm

Just goes to show you that corporations don’t have a clue as to motorcycles. Then again, it’s just money. I’m sure that mess will sell a lot of hair products. Just not to me!

by the looks of the angle and shape of the tank, i would have guessed the client corp. was either viagra or cialis.

My hats off (or should I say hair piece) to the “Hair Club” for finding a new market for their product, the crop thinning wannabees and posers.

Note to Sr. : Get ready, probably your next build for marketing a product at the bike events will be for the “Metamucil Co”. All the lines will have to flow smoothe.

  10. 10 Imaginethat Dec 24th, 2010 at 2:08 pm

Not my style, not really anyone’s style. Nice to see just a rehash of the same old thing at that over bloated shop, nothing new.

Any hater posting in this blog post would give their left nut to have the notoriety, television time, bank account, SALES and clientele as OCC or PJD. I’m not a fan of many of their theme bikes but seriously, I’m sure Paul Sr and Paul Jr are crying all the way to the bank over all the haters…

If someone makes a name, becomes famous people will hate them just because it didn’t happen for them.

Damn, its so hard to build a tank and billet front end these days…. GIVE ME A BREAK…. Anyone with some common sense can see that this is nothing more than a “custom” gas tank and a front end which has been designed on Auto-Cad and cut on a CNC… not difficult what so ever and not even that expensive, but I bet they paid a minimum of 150k from OCC for this bolt together project. Give me a damn TV show, two 45 minute segments and a paycheck….. ill do this too and at least make it worth the money.

Times have changed OCC, go away now.

URUP, I think I just threw up in my mouth! What gets me is these guys with thinning hair finally get some ‘an then get a HAIRCUT!! Let it fly Baby!! “Long, Beautiful, Hair. Sheening, Flaxen, Waxen. Give me down to there, HAIR. Shoulder length or longer, HAIR!! Here Mama, There Daddy, Everywhere, HAIR!!!” I’d hate to see the bike they come up with for thier Viagra contract!! Wiz

X2 other than the feeling sorry part. 😉 It is too bad that there are some who just can not let it go about someone, besides themselves, having some measure of success. Personally,I would like some of that success but barring that,I am glad that they are enjoying the fruits of their hard labor. It has not come without personal sacrifice and Paul Sr has not just had it handed to him. Hard work and determination as well as persistance. I also appreciate the amount of work, time and design that has gone into this bike. It is very hard to take a clients logo, ideas, branding and then turn all of that into a motorcycle that brings out what the client wants. hats off 😉

As I read through the posts its clear the occ love is minimal. Sure they have a show, and they have to have made sick dollars. Sr got skinny, Jr got mad and I bet Mikey takes home the bacon in the long run. So what now, a bald hair club bike? I just have to ask, how does this bike represent a hair replacement marketing tool. ” If you ride a bike like this, no one will notice your bald.”
I digress, I dig the idea of the tank and front this. These guys have the cats meow in tools to build such creations, but I still have to ask, how does this represent a marketing campaign for a hair replacement company. As I can see, nothing more than a brand hanging on by a thread trying not fade into the twilight of a fad. Call me a hater, its just more man drama.

  24. 24 Imaginethat Dec 25th, 2010 at 11:37 am

It isn’t occ haters but I mean really look at that bike , the only thing that it new is the tank, the front end and everything else is a rehash of the same old thing they have done before. I neither hate nor love occ . . but What happened to new and innovating? I have yet to see anything new come out of their shop for quite a while . If it wasn’t for a TV show would they have 1/3 of the cash and fame? I believe not ! This bike has nothing to do with hair, it appears to have nothing to do with anything . What is the “theme” if it does have one? In this day and age is a $150,000. bike a good investment for marketing I guess that is not my decision.. Back to this bike though, it is a matter of opinion love it or hate it, it appears just the same old thing and if occ keeps puking out the same old rehash how long will they last ?

  25. 25 Iron Horse Dec 25th, 2010 at 12:37 pm

Right on Chopper Tom…I’d love to see the Tampax bike too. Red/white and a pull rope to start it! On another note, love these guys or hate them, they’re laughing all the way too the bank.

Conrad, if you were as good as your ego thinks you are, you’d have your own show. The CNC work would be expensive as hell ( I own a CNC shop), and hey…more creative than that store bought WCC tank you and the old man throw on your bikes right?
I could give two shits about OCC’s stuff as it’s played out, but goddamn everybody gets tired of hearing your ego. At least your old man’s funny.
    Ass hat.

JC, the guy from another one of the want to be “upcoming shops” which wants to make it somewhere by riding the coattails of those who have been here and made their name, correct? I mean, we all know you came around when Jesse decided to bring the chopper lifestyle to the lime light and you figured you could exploit it by starting a company called “Three Two Choppers”… Or are you just an employee? Or, wait, is that company even a reputable company in which has more than just one employee?! I may be lost here but I travel Texas on a weekly basis and I know almost every REPUTABLE shop and every REPUTABLE owner around, I have not ever heard of you.

    Really….,

Thats cool, you have a CNC shop. We have machines here as well and I understand EXACTLY how much money goes into maching; R&D, Drawing, computing, metal, time, machine wear&tear, electricity… etc… I know most things that the keyboard freaks here under fake names (You and TC) dont know, I know a little thing called THE INDUSTRY… But nice try.

By the way, we dont use WCC tanks or any parts from WCC. My bikes are not using any CCI parts either, I am not even a CCI dealer.. Yet again, good try bud. Maybe you should stick with your fake name and the so called “CNC Shop”.

The same reasons my father wouldnt do any of the TV show stuff besides commercials and appearances on some shows. You sound like you have a complex of some sort, you should get that looked at if you plan to become a “professional” builder some day because now you just come across as a jealous douchebag instead of someone representing a business.

Unless of course thats your plan…make a name for yourself by posting your venom on Cyrils blog instead of actually building bikes that stand out in any way

  37. 37 Really... Dec 26th, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Hey Conrad…I know enough of the industry to know your old man wasn’t paying his bills so myself and some others quit supplying Desperado.
    You’re such a punk kid it’s hilarious.
Apprently you haven’t ever read the posts on the Ridleys and how Jay’s big mouth turned a reputable company to a despised one. Another family operation that couldn’t pay their bills.

Conrad, I could give two shits to meet you personally, though your Dad’s pretty funny.

As far as the “approached by TV”…yeah right. You’re a bigger joke than the Teutels and you’re not even on TV.

And TC/Deacon…exactly…a bunch of bolt on shit. Looks like a Sucker Punch Sally bike in a box kit.

  38. 38 Really... Dec 26th, 2010 at 12:25 pm

    Oh…and Conrad…
Far from an advocate. OCC used our parts on some of their bikes too. Funny to hear every guy that calls ME about replacement parts tells me their bikes are crap, break down half the time, etc.
I’m far from an fan…I just think it’ funny that you’ve been drinking the Haterade and your jealousy shows.
And don’t give yourself too much credit…I take great pride in being an asshole because I get shit done…you on the other hand are riding on Daddy’s coattails waiting for his approval.

  39. 39 Conrad Nicklus Dec 26th, 2010 at 2:29 pm

    Really..

Ok , whenever you are on the blog, and I comment, you always love to bring my father into things. Since you have such a crush on him, maybe you should take a stand and give him a call, you have his number. UNTIL THEN, whenever I post, either pack your balls back into your bag and quit being a keyboard assassin or post things to me, about me, not to me about JN. Let me say it to you clear and firm, Desperado does not owe you a single dollar, in fact, I would the “CNC Shop” owes Desperado money for selling Desperados parts and designs out the back door without supplying Desperado with X amount on the profit for using the design/name. If you believe in doing business like that just remember shit will come and bite you in the end.

So, Mr Keyboard Assassin, you should probably get your facts straight. I don’t need approval for anything, I build what I feel and what I like with my own money and decisions. If you learn to read you will see that my father was NOT down for me starting my own company before I graduated but I did anyways and now look, I am building while I am in college. I have not a jealous bone in my body and do not care to ever have one, I have everything I could ever want, my family is healthy, my friends are great, the business is working, and the weather is clear, what is there to be jealous of?

  48. 48 Jeff Nicklus Dec 27th, 2010 at 10:55 am

Damn ya’ all …. How in the hell do I always manage to get pulled into the fight? I had nothing to say about anything on the OCC subject and yet Ken (AKA: “Really”) has to pull me into the fight. What is that old saying: Be careful what you wish for as you might just get it.” …. more on that later.

Let’s start with the subject of my Son, Conrad. It is said that he is “riding my coat tails”…. As a parent I am very proud that I have some “coat tails” that anyone, especially one of my children, would like to ride. Every parent in the world, worth their salt, wants to see their children accomplish more and become more than themselves. If riding my “coat tails” means that helps him along his way in life then I am only too proud that he has that opportunity. There is little doubt that Conrad is one of the “Lucky Gene Crowd”, at least to some degree. It is true that he has had a life of some small amount of privilege; he has, and continues to be, introduced to and socialize in the company of people who most will never have the opportunity of meeting or knowing on a first name basis. That, in and of itself, has and will continue to open doors for both he and his sister and I am very proud that I could give them both children this opportunity …. what they do with that opportunity is entirely up to them.

Now that I have mention Conrad’s alleged “silver spoon” existence I should also point out that this kid has worked in my shop from the age of 5 or 6 …. that’s right … he would come to the shop and sweep floors and trail behind me since he was 5 years old. Today he basically runs my shop during the summer, while he is out of school. As many of you also know Conrad also attends most of the shows with me during his off time. There is little that this kid cannot or does not know how to do or operate within this business and that includes our CNC machines. Much to my chagrin Conrad now has HIS OWN motorcycle company and manufacturers license. He also is in his final year at college and will graduate with Honors and has already been accepted into an MBA Program in the fall next year.

1550tc mentions Conrad’s LV shoes etc ….. yes he rolls high but you know what …. It is his money he earns from working for me, building his own bikes and the kid does very well in the stock market as a day trader all while in college full time. So while I think his LV shoes suck I didn’t buy them nor do I have to wear them so who cares.

Now to the subject of “Really” , AKA: Ken —–,

Ken states that I owe him money …. You be the judge of that after what I have to say next. Ken is a salesman for a machine shop in California, which will remain unnamed at least for now. I hired his company to produce several over flow billet items for me about 4-5 years ago. They made some of our triple trees (which he never could quit get the centerline of the tubes centered from the top tree to the bottom tree), he produced our billet handlebar controls and switch housings, our hydraulic trans actuator, points cover, derby cover and our “sproter” brake and license plate bracket. Now with that said here is where the plot thickens: On our last shipment of “Sproter” brackets I learn that Ken is selling my proprietary parts, less our logo, out his back door … that’s right, he is whoring my parts. So the last order he shipped to me of brackets still sits, unopened or used, on a shelf in my parts department. The parts were roughly $3K+/- and it will be a cold day in hell before I pay for those parts or use them … unless naturally I am paid a royalty for the parts of mine he whored out. We have never received an invoice for these parts (unless one is in the box), never received a Past Due Notice or a phone call asking why the invoice has not been paid. Ken and the President of his company even walked within 6 feet of me at this year’s V-Twin Expo and he never said a word or even made eye contact with me. So Ken, if you want these parts back just send a UPS Call Tag and they are yours. As you know we have our own machine shop and we build all of these parts in house now without worry of anyone whoring the parts out the back door. If you want to discuss this further you have my cell phone number, it hasn’t changed in over 10 years, so give me a call and stop the “Nicklus/Desperado” bashing on here or at least use your real name not the “several” alias names you continue to use herein when bashing.

OK folks, enough dirty laundry cleaned here …. now all of you get to work. To each of you, and yes even you Ken, I wish you a safe and prosperous New Year, we all need it.

    Over & Out,

    Jeff

PS: With age and maturity will come the ability for my Son, who I love dearly, to learn when to shut up!

PSS: 1550tc …. I have an account at LolliPops …. no need for a credit card! See you there in the spring my brother!

Not for nothing, but if this bike had been built by some custom house in Europe or wherever, I bet there’d be tons of praise flying around. IMO it’s pretty cool. Rick’s sheet metal work is top-notch as always. The front end is trippy; definitely original.

Jeff,I agree-very well said. Tim Hanlon-as always, that front end has form and function as only you can do. Someone was saying how there is nothing new coming from OCC. OCC pays for a lot of R&D and is not afraid to step outside the box. I believe OCC just had a record set by a bike that built. Fastest electric drag bike in the 1/4 mile. That is just one of the new things that have come out of OCC in the last year. they are constantly innovating or helping others to innovate new ideas and products. Constantly.

Jeff, he is a good kid, somebody is SD would have to have wear pecker touching LV shoes , so it might as well be him LOL

From meeting you we are both alike with our kids, we don’t reward failure………..what i like about you two also is how lucky you two are to work; live and enjoy life together and still have your own unique personalities, both of you can also dish it out and take the odd jabs from yahoos on here like me lol and defend yourselves pretty good with a keyboard LOL from some real ???? on here.

Jeff i hear yah on the CA dealings, not all of them in CA do it but for some, their idea of copy right laws is that they have the right to copy your shit, they must have learned it from the Chinese.

I cant wait till ExtenZe commissions’ OCC to do them a theme bike

Id suggest they start making a bike a like the one on the inside of the old Steppenwolf album; For Ladies Only.

Jim C. Thanks, To clarify, Mean Street did not make that front end, my comment was observational and based on knowing the level of difficulty with such a product. I hope and pray that 2011 brings good things to all in this industry…

    Conrad,

    Spot on dude!

    RE:
“… about TV stuff, I wont allow myself to do that and make a fool of myself, my father and this industry….”

Don’t know what it is that makes people confuse “TV success” and “self-respect.”
It doesn’t take much talent to succeed on TV, just air time & stupidity (see Pee Wee Herman)…. 🙂

    “…acting the fool on TV — $1m…”
    “… conducting one’s life & affairs with integrity — priceless…”

Tell Dad hi for me and not to let any thieving bastard wear him down.
And happy new year to the both of ya.

Jeff, You sound like one class act! And Conrad, well, we’ve had our roundy-rounds before so I’m staying out of this one. Peace to all! Wiz

Hey guys. Love em or hate ’em you have to admit that OCC and the Teutels sure generate a lot of passion among industry enthusiasts , lovers , haters and tweeners. The discussions about the Teutels and their ” surreal tv show ” seems to always denegrate to personal attacks that have nothing to do with Cyril’s articles. As I read the various offerings in this particular posting , I was reminded of a small town in the midwest that truthfully advertised the disposition of their population.
The town sign read , ” so and so town ‘ , 583 of the finest, nicest people you’ll ever meet , plus a few JERKS. i DARE SAY A TRUTH that applies here as well as in all of society. My own opinion is that passionate exchanges about issues , products and related subjects are understandable and acceptable but comments that bridge the gap and include character assasinations of family members and accusations about business transactions should be confined to a personal face-to-face encounter. In the immortal words of Jeff Foxworthy , if you verbally and publically attack a man’s children , wife , or father and mother , you might be a JERK. I am not a hater of OCC or the Teutels , nor do I bow before their logo 3 times daily. I have both criticized some of their creations and praised them , just because someone disagrees withe the deisgn does not make them a HATER.
iF THEY CAN’T STAND THE HEAT get out of the kitchen. My apologies to Jeff , Conrad and the Nicklus family, on behalf of the few jerks on our planet.

Hi Cyril, and Happy Holidays to all.
If you get a chance Cyril, I would really like to see the bike that the F.B.I. has commissioned OCC to build for them, with tax money from US Taxpayers.

That’s one ugly bike and represents everything that’s wrong with building motorcycles in America today.

Where is Junior when you need him ?

I don’t know about you guys, but that hair club bike by OCC is nicer than my bike. And if OCC wants to give me one of their bikes, I’d be a proud owner.

I’m a bit slow to catch up, but Jeff, as usual, well said. You seem to be one of the few left in the business world with some integrity. I have never met you or Conrad, but I know from experience that we all are a little bold and mouthy when are young. If you are any indication, then your boy will be alright when he grows older. Keep it up and good luck this year.
