About The Origin Of HOG

A friend of the industry was telling me that among my readers some may still don’t know the origin of the nickname HOG to describe a Harley motorcycle and much later the factory Harley Owners Group.

So, here a famous vintage picture and the abbreviated story. There was a Harley-Davidson board track racing crew. The little animal sitting on the gas tank became the racer then the team mascot…

    Yes, it’s the true story. The racer stopped losing, started winning after taking the HOG as mascot.

    Hey Cyril, why not post the story of the Sturgis Rally(In the beginning), tell about the towns people and how well they treated the riders. Most that go to the rally today say Jack Pine Who?
