But where do I hide my battery, my relays, my wiring, etc? n my saddlebag, of course. It has been done before by many builders, including this writer. Now Nash Motorcycle company offers what they call the “Juice Bag”. Not only find a place to hold all your electrical essentials (your rain gear will go on the other bag if you run duo saddlebags), but save a lot of time on the tedious process of hiding, soldering, connecting your wiring.

The “Juice Bag” includes an EtX 14 Deka Battery pumping out 200 cold cranking amps. The battery measures 5 7/8″ Long X 3 7/16″ Wide X 5 3/4″ Long. 3.5 feet of both positive and negative battery cable is included so you can cut it to whatever length is needed. A water proof key start is mounted on the outside of the bag.

Water resistant starter relay, circuit breakers, quick disconnect Deutsch connector, and high quality water resistant wiring is all mounted inside, along with the battery. You can choose between 3 different style of bags: The Nashty Ol Bag, The Sancho Bag, or The Half & Half Bag. Each bag is universal to fit either Hardtail or Softail applications. You can decide to have it mounted on the right or left side ($857) and to buy the other side with the set of 2 bags, “Juice Bag” and regular bag for $1036. Choice of Brass or Nickel buckles & rivets. More at Nash Motorcycle Company.

Easy with this bracket to mount onto the engine heads, left side of course, with the speedo readable when you ride. Fits 04 & up models, but be patient because they are made on request with a lead time of 2 to 3 weeks. Why not to save space? Evidently Brian style breathes hot rods, metal flake, jockey shifting, foot Clutching, and kick start choppers. The light grooved aluminum housing is 2.25″ OD tapering in the back to 2″. Light comes from an LED cluster to laugh at vibrations. Comes with 3 wires. From $149.00 to $320.00 with plate and oil filter. Black Sunshine Custom.

After 4 years of development and testing, Accel a division of Prestolite Performance, specializing in high quality ignition and electrical components for American made Harley-Davidson motorcycles, is about to release next week the SLM EFI Module. This self-learning technology compensates for changing loads, weather conditions and altitude while you ride. It automatically re-calibrates and optimizes after modifications you made on your bike, such as exhaust pipes, intake, air cleaners, cams, etc.. Objective of this module is also to improve your mileage while increasing power and torque for both stock and modified applications and to reduce emissions.

Installation is just a direct plug-in connection to your factory Throttle Position Sensor, Crank Position Sensor & O2 Sensors. The module is named “Self Learning” because it acts automatically to compensate for changing loads, weather conditions and altitude while you ride. You guessed it, no more need for costly dyno tuning sessions or downloading calibration files to a laptop. The Accel SLM Module will also help your engine run smoother, eliminating the “bang & pop” associated with mis-programmed ECU due to the intake and exhaust modifications you made in your garage or shop. and no need to re-flash the factory ECU; simply plug it in and ride.

Available next week at J&P Cycles (retail clients), Drag Specialties, Motorcycle Storehouse, Zodiac in Europe (dealers). More distributors coming soon. Accel Motorcycle Products.

This puts less of a strain on the battery while starting and still provides the rider with “rear light” protection. This new wiring system is available in chopper style with automotive start (minimal wiring) and for stock factory switches, lights and turn indicators. In either black or luxurious chrome finishes. MSRP: $499.99 for the chopper style system with automotive start and $599.99 for stock style switches with lighting control module. Wire Plus.

S&S intends to continue to sell Crane products through the same distributors and dealers who have sold them in the past. To that end, they will establish a new facility in Daytona Beach, Florida to manage the business and provide customer service and technical support. This new facility will be staffed by many of the same personnel that Crane customers have worked with in the past, providing as seamless a transition as possible. While there may be some shortages of product in the near future, the Crane/S&S team will be working hard to fill back orders and meet future demand for Crane ignitions and motorcycle valve train components.
Since the acquisition does not include the Crane facility or equipment, manufacturing of valve train products will be moved to the S&S manufacturing facility in Viola, Wisconsin. S&S CEO George Smith comments: “The addition of this product line is a natural fit for our current in-house cam manufacturing capabilities as our equipment and processes are state of the art. We’re also excited that the highly successful Crane motorcycle and automotive electronics line is included with this acquisition. This will further strengthen S&S Cycle in the electronics field by providing additional expertise to improve our product offerings in late model ignitions, among other things.”

This one was so simple to imagine that it is quite original. It’s made out of billet aluminum with a LED bulb (stronger light and no breaking filament because of vibrations) and a red lens. Available in polished aluminum and the very sought after brass finish. Because the lens is small (which makes it look better…), I would recommend that fo safety reasons you use 2. Have you thought of using both polish & brass together on top of each other, or side by side, on 1 side (left is better, also for safety reasons). $180.00 a piece Call Michael Barragan on my behalf at 323.385.4223 or visit Evil Spirit Engineering

Every builder/manufacturer is selling one. Finned, grooved, smooth, spiked, with a devil head, a Maltese cross, etc, and as many logos & names as the industry counts. The thought of bringing one more ignition cover doesn’t make any sense except that they have always been a top-selling item. So the boys at Biltwell decided to do one with a different twist: the stainless-steel plate on their new points cover is actually an ingenious bottle opener. The alloy backing plate can be mounted horizontally or vertically to fit any bolt location on H-D ignition cones, and the stainless-steel bottle opener can be repositioned accordingly. Available in two colors (black or silver anodizing), and both versions include a polished stainless-steel center plate and all necessary hardware. MSRP is $53. Biltwell Products.

As I told you last week, there is a lot of confusion regarding Crane Cams and its future. I continue to receive conflicting reports and press releases and below I reproduce the last one I just received. It comes from Katherine Walls, Vice President of Liquitec.

“Crane Cams Confirms Auction Sale Proceedings as scheduled. All Machinery, $2+ Million in Inventory, 16 Trademarks, Patents and Product Line IP is for Sale. The sale of Crane Cams is on! Today, Crane Cams announced that it is “…committed to its scheduled auction date of April 22, and is entertaining as many interested buyers as possible.” Crane Cams further stated that Crane has no agreement to sell its assets to Scorpion Performance, nor has it received any offer of any kind from Scorpion.” LiquiTec was retained by Crane Cams to conduct a public auction of the company’s assets on April 22, 2009 and is also working to sell the assets before the auction to a variety of buyers who have expressed interest in the company’s very well-established high-performance valve-train and ignition components and product lines. LiquiTec is handling all negotiations in connection with the sale of the Crane Cams’ assets.

Contrary to public statements and news releases issued by Scorpion Performance suggesting that a transaction with Crane Cams was “nearly complete,” and that Scorpion Performance was meeting with Crane Cams to “finalize the details,” LiquiTec has had no discussions with Scorpion Performance whatsoever. Bob Gaudiosi, Vice President of LiquiTec Industries in Mequon, Wisconsin said,
“Scorpion’s repeated public statements suggesting their purchase of Crane Cams was imminent have created significant confusion in the marketplace. However, let me assure you, the sale is on and always has been.”

LiquiTec is currently working with a variety of buyers who have expressed an interest in buying Crane Cams® and related trademarks, its very popular product lines and related intellectual property, its inventory and its machinery. Don’t be misled. Everyone has an opportunity to buy the Crane Cams assets. Act now because there are just 19-days remaining.

LiquiTec is accepting bids now for inventory, trademarks, patents and product line IP. An auction sale of all remaining inventory and machinery will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the company’s former headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida. The sale will also be broadcast over the internet via www.BidSpotter.com. For more information or to register to attend the sale, visit Liquitec or call (800) 852-9252. The sale will be conducted by David S.
