Chasing Speed. A Documentary On Leslie Porterfield On Discovery’s Velocity Channel Tomorrow Sunday April 1, 2012

35-year Leslie Porterfield is the most well known woman racing the Salts of Bonneville. Although she officially started chasing her land speed dreams only 5 years ago, ended up crashing with broken ribs and a punctured lung, since then she has broken several world land speed records.

In 2008, Porterfield broke the Production Class record achieving 232mph. In 2010 she broke the class record but was later disqualified because she had taken off a license plate bracket from the bike. In 2011 at the BUB Bonneville speed trials she broke a new world record in the 1000 cc Production Class (with very limited modifications), reaching an average speed of 200,137 mph on her Honda CBR 1000.

The documentary “Chasing Speed” follows Leslie Porterfield as she prepares with her crew for the 2011 speed record then her attempt and success at breaking her new land speed record. The TV show airs tomorrow evening April 1st on Discovery’s Velocity Channel at 10 p.m. (ET), 9 p.m. (CT)

Talk about a rare breed!! Beautiful and extremely ballsy. Gonna try to make out to bub this year. Got a crazy stroked 86″ ironhead that needs to be lightly salted.

She is an incredible racer. I have had the opprotunity to visit with her on the salt and she has taken the time to visit at length with the students I have brought to BUB the past couple of years. Leslie is very professional and passionate about land speed racing and shares her knowledge freely with anyone willing to listen. Congrats on the TV program and we will see you at BUB 2012.
