Myrtle Beach Bike Week West? Sonny Copeland of Sonny Productions, a 3-decade organizer of events for Myrtle Beach Bike Week, is working on starting another bike event at the Florence Civic Center dubbed “Myrtle Beach Bike Week West.” The Motorcycle Expo, set for March 2-3 at the Florence Civic Center, is expected to attract about 100 vendors and between 3,000 and 5,000 bikers. The idea behind this project is to to lure some of the bikers headed down Interstate 95 to Daytona Bike Week which is set for March 9-18 , just one week after the Florence event. The expo will be set inside the 50,000 sq. ft Florence center, as well as space outside, and is expected to have no effect on the Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson Rally, which is set for May 11-20.  But don’t you think it’s a little bit weird to call this event “Myrtle Beach Bike Week West” knowing that Florence is 70 miles west of Myrtle beach and in another county, and that the it’s a 2-day, not a one week event?

Not a good idea to tag your event to such a damaged name in the biker community… my opinion anyway.
If it has the name Myrtle Beach in it, it will get none of my money. I am probably not alone in this thinking.

I would not be cought dead anywhere near that town… Or to anything that gloms onto the name sake. I just hope that something springs up to take it’s place North of S.C. It is awful hard to get down South anymore since you have to go around Georgia and that S.C./Myrtle Beach sold us out.. How about “Somewhere North Carolina Bike Week”

I would never go to that city or anything near them. They will never see any of my dollars.

Hotbike did a series of BIC lighters with a several cool bikes from Matt Hotch, Todd Silicato and others. I tried to collect them, but eventually ended up using and losing them all. I won’t be collecting OCC ones though… sorry BIC

Glad you all will stay out of S.C. Makes it easier for me to get a beer during bike week….which isn’t even in Myrtle Beach or called that anymore. It’s south of Myrtle and going strong without you…….Sonny Productions is stuck with the name and trying to make it work elsewhere. Good Luck Sonny…
