Morgan To Launch The Super Sports Threewheeler

The legendary English company Morgan Motor Co., well-known for keeping the faith of traditional sport cars construction, is about to launch in 2011 a Super Sports Threewheeler powered by a  V-Twin motorcycle engine hanging off its nose just like the Cycle Cars that it manufactured between 1911 to 1952.

The machine is getting a 1,800 cc Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle engine that will churn 100 hp and a five-speed transmission from Mazda. The Morgan Super Sports, will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and have a top speed of 115 mph.

Styling is inspired by the Super Sport Aeros that Morgan built from 1927 to 1939 and at the time famous on English race tracks and on back roads for their power, reliability and easy handling. Body work will be made of super-formed aluminum and although minimalist, interior will feature top quality leather seats and side panels. Dashboard will be treated in black anodizing with aircraft-style toggle switches and a starter button inspired by the style of aircraft bomb release mechanism. The Super Sports will be equipped with aero screens but no other standard weather protection. Morgan will propose a wide range of custom accessories for his 3-wheeler, including weatherproof clothing and specially made luggage. Price to be confirmed should be around  £25,000 (about $40,000) Morgan Motor Co.

Combining US and UK tradition on 3 wheels (not 2, not 4) into something amazing. Going back to the 1930’s with modern engineering.

    Just great.

The original morgan 3 wheeler is rare in the united states the only one I have seen was owned by Mel Magnet and was in the Riveria Primo world headquarters. Very unusual and worth checking out.
