Understand the extra Year Warranty. B F D ! All the Japs have 3 Years and most with Unlimited Milage. I still say if youu want to sell Harley's then reduce pricing
on most models by $5,000 for a limited time and People will by Harley's! The best part of the hole price reduction is that you will get the money back in aftermarket Harley Goodies. They will spend the money before the Bike leaves the Showroom.!

Sounds to makes as though HD is concerned about invetory becoming dated on the dealers floors. What is the policy for when the warranty automatically starts. Usually there is a provision in the warranty automatically starts after 24 months after the bike was delivered to the dealership.

There is definately some confusion over this. By saying Offering Special Extensions it infers that it is something that is offered, as in purchased if you want.
If in fact it is extending the two year unlimited mile warranty Free Of Charge that should be explained.
Since I recently bought a new 2009 I will contact Harley when I get time and have them explain it to me.
Just for the record changing specific parts on a motorcycle does not void the warranty. It may affect specific parts of the motorcycle as in the case of engine modifications and in some cases that is argumenative.
If a engine is modified and other parts of the motorcycle has a failure, the other parts should still be covered.

Cyril and friends, the heading on this post is a little misleading. The Motor Company is extending the factory warranty, it is not an Extended Service Plan or part of the Extended Service Plan, which is a extra cost item with different terms than the factory warranty.

Why extend the warranty? Motivate customers to purchase and take delivery of a new 2009MY and 2010MY motorcycle in winter by removing the perception of "lost" warranty-covered riding time. This is not the first time Harley has extended the factory warranty over the winter months. If my memory serves, this will be the third year in a row they've done this.

I guess it's a start, but considering some of the metric cruisers had 3 yr. warranties back in1996........
I think a prestige priced bike like an Ultra Classic should have the same warranty as a Royal Star if they want to project some pride and confidence in their products. It might even spur more sales.

I guess P+A sales are down a lot. Got to keep them coming back to Harley so they don't violate the warranty. Don't know about most of you guys, but personally I couldn't wait to void my warranty last time I bought a new Harley. Soon as it hit 500 miles the motor was taken apart for some serious aftermarket go fast stuff. Part of the pride of ownership I guess.
Let it roll.
