I (Desperado) have exhibited a couple of times at the V-Twin Expo and I cannot say that I could ever put a finger on what we gleamed from a business stand point to justify the time and expense involved in attending. In looking at this year’s exhibitor list, as shown on the V-Twin site, many, many names of companies who normally attend the event are conspicuously absent which is understandable in the current economic state. I am not sure this event is a Motorcycle Manufacturers place to exhibit any longer. On the other hand the Expo is a must for industry suppliers to be seen by manufacturers, wholesalers and dealers alike. I have missed the last couple of years of the Expo for various reasons; however, I will be attending and walking the isles this year in Cincinnati. This event, if nothing else, is the best opportunity for those in the industry to get together in one place and at one time and see old friends and to make new ones.

LOTS of them and your right Mike and i always enjoy coming over to where you are in the corner (1100 SECTION) by Bobby Wood and JamesGaskets ?

Its great to see the razzzle dazle and fake ( . ) ( . ) babes from the big guys!!

But its the lil guys whom truley are the heat and soul of this industry

So much gets focussed on companies that are not doing so good or have disappeared. In reality there are still many companies that have been around for many years who just go about doing their usual business. We have seen several business cycle ups and downs over the past 20+ years and we adjust our business accordingly. Far too often our industry focus’ on a few star players yet some of us just go about doing good business and quietly expand. For our company we have always been conservative yet we continually look at ways to expand even in down economic times. Yes it takes constant evaluating and remaining nimble and on ones toes but there are still opportunities within our industry. It is still the most exciting business to be in with some of the best people in the world whom many I call my friends

This is one of my Do NOT Miss Events and NO it is not because I contribute articles for Paisano Publications.
I go to this event for a few reasons and first of all is to look for New Products I can do Technical Articles on.
I like the seminars as I always learn something new.
YES I do go to see friends and attend parties as well. I am sure no one will be suprised to learn that a lot of deals are made over lunch and or drinks.
Just do not be signing any contracts if you having drinks LOL
I will be looking to see old friends and making some new ones.

As in reviewed my marketing-advertising database for the motorcycle industry today, names like Titan Motorcycles (RIP DP) American Ironhorse, Independence Motorcycle Company and their vendors-suppliers-service providers who occupied such a large presence at the V-Twin Expo have all but disappeared.

It’s truly now only the “survivors club” club left, but when you read about the state of the motor company and great upstart companies at like Big Dog who designed and built better than average production customs and a great dealer network, now searching for addition capital or outright sale of the company, you start to wonder how much worse it’s going to get.

I guess we will see February 6th through the 8th. I will miss all of my associates, friends and great talent that will not be in attendance and be thankful that I am one of those still left standing.
