Spyke’s spiffy petcocks? Just had one installed on my 06 HD 1200C along with a new Mikuni carb. The cheap plastic liner in the crimped tower of this petcock produced red plastic particles that completely clogged the Mikuni resulting in severe overflow from the carb(both top and bottom overflow). My mechanic, the first time, thought it was bad fuel. The second time it happened the fuel shutoff on this product failed and three gallons of premium gushed out all over my garage when I finally got the bike home; fire hazards all around because of this. The second time it happened, we removed the petcock and saw the poor quality of the plastic around the tower with even more particles….seems like a manufacturing defect along with possible poor quality materials. Twice broken down on the road with gas gushing, the last time could not even turn off the gas….have yet to determine if gas got into the oil. Stay away from this product unless you have a good civil tort attorney………………

Mmmmmm….I felt they had a great idea when I learned of them in “07, but three out of three leaked badly from the begining on builds we did. I sure hope they cured that problem as we never heard back on their solution.

Had one of these on my Indian Chief. Has a ‘click’ for each position, so you get maximum fuel flow, and good sealing so there’s no bypassing.

i carry a fuelie stub fitting on a 6 inch hose in my tool roll…to plug into the gas tank of modern harleys..it easily plugs in to the tank and requires no tools..so its actually much easier than a screw driver and hose clamps and ripped fuel lines..plug and play into ytour carona bottle ( everyone has several of those around) then pour in freinds tank..of course the ribbing of the out of gas offender is up to you!

curious how it increases fuel capacity?

in a few years the petcock will be akin to a audio cassette for the young crowd. strange man.

i like petcocks more than a yellow low fuel light. the petcock mileage estimator seems more reliable than the light too. each bike seems to have a different level where the light comes on.

petcocks made it nice and easy to borrow gas from your buds too. not too easy to get gas out of the fuelies.
