It is almost impossible to try to describe the brutally of the terrain and obstacles in the Score off Road races.
Having ran the Baja 500 myself and can absolutely tell you there is no possible way footage of blasting down the course can possible convey what it’s actually like.
Fellow racers and stunt friends did a great job in the documentary movie “Dust to Glory” as mentioned above and Jesse’s show did a great job breaking it down to terms that even Wilma sitting on her couch eating bon bons could understand.

Props to Jesse and the producers of his show ~~ Good job!

Brewdude you are so right.
This is a good show to watch with the sound turned off, kinda like watching a Shania Twain concert. Seems to me like its targeting the same audience as OCC. Everyone should make as much money as they rightfully can, but bullshit will always be bullshit.

Nicker, in response to your comment; I hope I don’t come across as putting down Jesse’s abilities to fabricate, weld, build, etc…but to build a custom motorcycle and a off-road race vehicle as complex as a trophy truck are two competely different animals, especially when you are competing against guys like Robby Gordon and the Herbst Family, they have the dollars and the backing to knock anyone’s lights out in the desert. There are guys that will have a million dollars for a race season (Trophy Truck) and that isn’t shit compared to some of the larger race teams. You’re gonna spend six figures on a competitive race truck, and chances are it won’t even be a new one, you are still gonna have to do some work on it to get it up to speed. Granted Jesse has some bucks to spend, but to expect him to build something on his own just seems a little unrealistic. Besides, with all of his time wrapped up in other things, it’d be easier and more convient for him to get a used race truck OR a prebuilt roller (chassis, suspension, body, brakes etc…) and finish it off w/ the drivetrain of his choice and go from there. Most folks that build those trucks will go with out to the dez and assist w/ suspension tuning and setup to the team/owner of the truck. There are some good folks out there like the Geiser Bros. and Curt LeDuc that know race trucks like Jesse and Mr. Nicklus know custom motorcycles, they are kings of their craft. Just my two cents on this for what it’s worth.

Just a thought …

I think JJ should build one of his rigid framed CFL Bikes … say with a 12″ over front end, with 6″ backbone stretch and 6″ down tube stretch, so we can keep it workable, 300mm rear tire, 21x90x90 front tire, let’s do some spoke wheels for grins a chuckles and a Patrick 127″ motor. THEN he takes the bike and runs the Baja with it ….. now that is entertainment you can gather a crowd with!

The show is not bad but not very good. Only young kids and teenagers can hold their breath. Not an adult. Tons of money spent to make the challenges look more dramatic than they are.

I am also somewhat disappointed by the show. Thanks to Cyril’s posts to help his buddy Jesse, I watched 3 episodes and Jesse is not doing anything more than what others are doing on a regular basis like Figure 8 or Baja 500 racing. In addition, he fails. The show stories fit in 1/2 hour but they make it 1 hour with unneccesary repetitions, stupid tests and preparations, The “Jesse didn’t die today, but what about tomorrow” repeated over and over is very retarded and quite annoying. The show is more about special camera effects and dramatic voice over than real substance. Yes, disappointed.

Bad Monkey…No I am not. I’m just a wrench who builds bikes at home & for a livin at the shop. The only “Brad the Polisher” I know was from “Hands Off Polishing” & sadly he passed.

Brew….I agree the Elementary theatrics are a bit too much but I do like the computer rendered break-downs of the vehicles & items of interest.

I have watched thinking sooner or later the drama “jesse could be killed’ and when jesse wins has gotten worse. Probably would be a good 1/2 hour show and cut the elementary garbage. It looks like jesse has lost his touch. It looks like a mix of OCC, mythbusters but with the sense of writting from Texas Hardtail.

I watched a couple of shows early in the series, that dumbed down, designed for 8 year old boys, over melodramatic and repetitive beyond belief commentary grated on me so badly I can’t watch another episode.

Top Gear in the UK does pointless shit stupid stuff of a similar vein, but they don’t insult their viewers whilst doing it. Perhaps a reason it is so popular world wide.

So Jesse, if you read this blog and If you ever do another series; try and take the viewers along for the ride with you, engage them. You have the chance to do stuff most just dream of, help the viewer do it vicariously. Don’t patronize them and talk down to them whilst building up how special what you are doing is ….which is how your show comes across with the way it is edited and presented.
