I bought a ticket for a chance on a St. Judes Home raffle ($100.)the home valued at $350,000. This is getting back to the Tax responsibility.It clearly states on their website that you must settle all Taxes to the IRS over $5000. before they will hand over ownership of the winnings, which is considered income. So if you win this bike you'll be paying IRS income tax on an extra $30,000 this year on your taxes. Can't the builder just "writeoff" his expenses on tax deductions, instead? This to me would give the charity more profits towards the donations?
