guess im a burn out cause in 2008 i took a stock 88 cubic incher and won the burn out contest at the small tellico rally and only had five gears and didnt blow a tire its all in what u like so if u want to be a hater be one till u put your bike in the ring and then you can cry if you lose till then DON’T hate the people having FUN

Marketing 101:

Rule number 1: Get your potential customer’s attention.

Who here, engaged in this conversation, can say it hasn’t done that already?

Flickin’ bugars will get my attention only if you hit me with one. Save ‘em fo yourself, thanks.

The burn out is entertaining and people enjoy it. If you think it’s unintelligent, let’s leave that up to the folks participating in it to decide. It’s their bike after all.

Then go take your own IQ test, and pat yourself on the back, if that’s going to make you feel better to do so.

Some would argue riding a bike in general lacks intelligence and there are plenty of supporting facts to arguably indicate it’s true. Should we stop riding?

Mr. Nordbye. By far, it’s not the best time at the Buffalo Chip. You just defend one of your events. Of course, you will always find people watching a burn out. Ask these people if they think it’s an intelligent way to promote transmissions. They will say no, even if they watch. It’s what the discussion is all about.

I agree with Rodent. Destroying tires in burnouts is stupid. Bert Baker disappoints me in showing that he has no better idea to promote his transmissions. Motorcycles/custom motorcycles are not about destruction. Baker transmissions cannot be promoted with such a dumb event. What a lack of marketing judgment! The proof that you can be good at engineering but retarded at doing marketing. Unfortunately, many in this business suffer from this same lack of judgment. Trish answer is quite stupid, too. Why is it that having a set of tires paid by a sponsor would be a justification for these burnouts? You said marketing director???

Having been there all I can say is that we had a great night there with everyone. The Baker staff were great hosts.
As for Dodge who beat out Brian in the last round. He can correct me if I’m wrong but after talking with him that night I understood he rode his in to Sturgis from Jersey.

Is there any real point to burning off your tire? No. Did anyone involved last year blow a tire? No. Did some clutches get fried? Yup.
Haters can keep on hating. We’ll keep on playing.

It was just good fun where a bunch of us who work hard all year up to Sturgis got to blow off some steam.
Whom ever is involved this year is sure to have a great time.

Hey guys – Im the Marketing Director for BAKER and i wanted to just say: this is a really fun, high energy event and the builders involved know how to do a burnout without destroying their drivetrains – it is possible to do – and trust me: most of them are running BAKERs which are backed by unbeatable warranties anyway: so we aren’t about to leave someone hanging if something goes wrong (which it wont)!

As far as ruining a tire: last year we were able to have a well known tire company provide every builder with a new back tire. so worry not about the rubber being burnt and concentrate on getting yourselves to the Buffalo Chip for a great contest amidst an evening of good fun, great bands and live entertainment! What’s a little rubber in the name of loud, dirty fun? I know i’d burn the shit out of my tire if there was a BAKER product awaiting me if i won!

Hope to see you all there! Keep your eyes and ears open, because soon we will announce all 12 builders participating – perhaps one of your favorites will be there in the pit!
