Kirk,

CA is the Socialist petry dish for "the new America." ......... :-(
They don't want cheep fuel here. They need expensive fuel to make the Green Business case.

The only thing that might save us is the CA bond rating has slipped to Junk Bond status.
Arnold's gonna play Hell financing much more of this Leftist stupidity.

When the California Propositions 1A, 1B & 1C fail on election day May 19, 2009 and Schwartz starts crying about the state deficit, remind the Terminator that the entire state budget can be met, IF THEY CHARGE MOTORCYCLE KIT BUILDERS A HEFTY CARBON TAX TO REGISTER THEIR BIKES AT THE DMV.
I find it hard to believe that V-Twin®, CCI®, Deltron®, Cheng-Shin®, Cycle World®, Samson®, Exide®, S&S®, STD®, Battery Tender®, the AMA®, and every other repop manufacturer that makes a living from motorcycles in California are letting Arnold Schwartzenegger (your basic Venice Beach, weight-lifting beach bum turned actor, politician) talk them down, and convince them that motorcycles should be lumped in with all other vehicles and there is nothing you can do about it. Bull shit. You saw how demo. Diane Feinstien backed down on the lead-ban. She had to be TOLD the lead ban shouldn't include kids dirt bikes. See????? That wasn't so hard was it?
Listen up! ....the EPA knows motorcycles are in a special class. That's why they gave motorcycles a special emissions exemption. Carry that exemption to California. Don't let these clueless politicians define our motorcycle reality. They are paper tigers. They can be defeated, but we need a platform to stage from and we need the manufacturers that sell parts for these kits to join together and send yet another message to these idiots.

Actually, Algaehol® might be a better name, since the oil is "squeezed", not "cracked" (like crude oil).

Dago Fuel.
As I reported several months ago, San Diego (aka, "Dago" to generations of swabbies) is leading the way in (algae-crack) bio-fuel. UCSD, Scripps Research Institute, Scripps Oceanography, the Salk Institute, San Diego State University and the local bio-fuel industry - predict that the cost of producing a gallon of fuel from algae can be reduced from $30. a gallon to less than $2. a gallon within 10 yrs.
"Sapphire Energy" (formally of San Francisco, now Dago [for the sunshine]), produced algae-based jet fuel from it's scum ponds out in the Imperial Valley last year. "This is a real fuel", said C.E.0., Jason Pyle holding up a beaker of crude his company made.
Algae can grow in soil that would never sustain food crops. Algae likes saltwater or brackish water and may evern take some pollutants out of it in the process. The algae needs minimal nutrients to grow, including carbon dioxide and gobs of sunshine. As a fuel source, the amount of energy produced by 30 million acres of algae would require 150 million acres of corn or other plant sources needed to make ethanol.
Generally the process for getting oil out of algae is the same process for turning vegetable oil into bio-diesel and the fuel can be injected into existing underground fuel pipelines - so there you go - from pond to pump.
Next, on the agenda is forcing California adopt the EPA "One-kit bike-per person-per-lifetime" so we can build Jammer Knuckles.
