There's other topics relating to 4-piece exhaust on that page. Dixie® 4-piece Exhaust is one of them. The problems I had may stem from my 1997 issue '55-57 rigid frame, however the most notable problem for me, was not having a tighter arc to the front header, which left the end of the pipe 1/2" below the hub of the "flat" or "s" pipe.
Other people may not have any problem at all with the current headers being made, but for certain, the different parts are not interchangeable between manufacturers.

(I don't know how to edit so, I have to post)

And we want (4) 1/8" (finished) slots in the headers, so they close-up evenly around the exhaust spigot - and not the (2) 3/16" slots that are in all of the headers now.
And, we want the slots to be 9/16" (finished) deep, instead of the current 5/8" deep.
Note the length of the cyl. head exh. spigot is only 5/16" long at best. If you have an air gap, it will warp an intake valve.
When the header bells get pinched off in mfgr, the top is left uneven. Grinding the chrome off to make the bell flush is the current method. Which works sometimes, but having only 2 slots is not enough, and their too wide.
No, we don't want to use a hacksaw to cut two more and ruin the chrome.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
If Dixie® is the only supplier of repop headers that fit, then an effort should be made to steer customers to the only source I know of Kick-Start M/C Parts (616) 245-8991. They are not an internet company.
Last thoughts:
1. We have our new 3.5 gallon tanks.
2. Exhaust for Rigid Pan (1955-1957, best build years) are not a universal fit yet.
3. I don't think there is a No. 3. It seems that my complaining days are numbered.
• I said earlier that I was retiring from the OHV aftermarket, but a purchasing agent in NY "pulled me bacck in."
But most importantly, the 4-piece exhaust needs to be standardized. Then we'll have a complete 1955-1957 Panhead replica, but most note-able is the 1948-53 (8-rib) cam cover, which is an excellent replica of the original.
I'll need to make one more post, with the url of a topic at http://flatheadpower.com/ for anyone interested in the (4) piece exhaust example of possible and undetermined fitment issues. (unless of course this topic is deemed over-the-top, in any case) Thank you!

How about a design engineer from Paughco flying over to NY or Kansas City and creating a 4-piece exhaust system for the replica Panhead being made that really works. The current exhaust manufacture in Ohio makes front headers that don't have enough arc in them to meet up with the hub of the currently made "flat pipe". The current Ohio "Y" pipe has too much kick in it, which sends the muffler up to high.
Listen up! We forced the 3.5 gallon gas tank issue for Panheads. We're getting the newly designed 3.5 gallon tanks only after verbally slamming the manufacturers head up against a soda pop machine and cracking the back-lit plastic display, causing the florescent light to flicker on and off. It was not easy to get things turned around. But the tanks are on their way.
Now we are turning our attention to the ill fitting 4-piece exhaust system. It's either the frame manufacturer's fault or it's the exhaust manufacturer's fault. We don't care whose fault it is.
WE WANT 4-PIECE EXHAUST PIPES THAT FIT!!!!!!!!!!!
