Thanks for the nice words about my father Armando Magri. I see that you used extensive quotes from R. V. Scheide's great 2001 article, "Sacramento's Iron Man" from the Sacramento News and Review.

There is a tribute page for Armando Magri on My Space. It contains hundreds of photos, including race photos and shots of Armando's buddies like Ed Kretz (mentioned above). Yet it doesn't include the photo of Dad racing that you have at the top of this page. Don't know where you got it, but I'm lifting it for the My Space page. Thanks again Mr. Huze. Armando was everything they say, and a nice guy too. -Ken Magri

Mad- & Gustian

My pleasure.
Ya, the past has a lot to teach us and a lot more to humble us.
About the time we get a bit too big for our britches, the past has a way of delivering a timely reality check.

I always enjoy pouring over the past as there is so much in those riders. The Indian wrecking crew (documentary currently being done on them who gave the Harley riders hell), Ed Kretz (dozens of times all around winner plus Daytona), Floyd Emde (Daytona winner 1948), Max Bubeck (GreenHorn endurance late 30's winner) only to name a few Indian racers who made history. Ed Kretz upon his Indian pretty much was the "one to watch" as the tougher the race, the stronger he became. His title was "Iron Man Ed Kretz". They're hero's and unfortunatly very few today know who they are or what their place was in our cool sport.
