I was hoping that this year would be my 1st year to ever vote in my life. I am an American citizen as of July this year but both swearing in dates had to be cancelled due to my fathers illness and recent passing in New Zealand. I'm just waiting for my next swearing in appointment.

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION

The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA. Maybe this guy should run for President one day...
                               PREAMBLE
'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, and delusional. We hold these truths to be self evident: that all these people confused by the Bill of Rights are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights. '

ARTICLE I:

You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II:

You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone --not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III:

You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV:

You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. This one is my pet peeve...get an education and go to work..don 't expect everyone else to take care of you!

ARTICLE V:

You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but if it would turn out the same way as current public housing, we 're not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI:

You do not have the right to physically harm other people..If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don 't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you put away for the rest of your sorry life.

ARTICLE VII:

You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don 't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won 't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII:

You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX:

You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by idiotic laws created by those of you who're confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X:

This is an English speaking country. We don 't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

(and last but not least....)

ARTICLE XI:

You do not have the right to change our country 'S history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one God. You are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all, with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

Good Posts Well except for Frank suggesting a specific candidate.
I voted last Thursday and waited in line for 2 hours to do so.
I met some nice people who rode as well as some veterans and also got to talk to a lot of motorcycle riders I knew.
It was good to see so many people voting.
Yes I do VOTE in Every Election.
Hopefully people paid as much attention to other offices as they do the one for president.
Well we shall see what happens today and move on from there.

Beautiful, Cyril! Especially this part:

"whoever is elected we are all going to be fine. Just care about yourself and your family without expecting too much of the new President."

Frank,

You just had to screw things up didn't you? And we were all playing so well together!

One last Poll: This is the Nicklus Poll with an accuracy of +/- .005 Points:

Of all registered voters and/or employees polled at Jeff Nicklus Customs: McCain 100%, Obama 0%. There, how is that? I will bet I am as accurate as Gallup!

Everyone one else can quote a poll so in an effort to be politically correct now I have my own poll!

EVERYONE GO VOTE!

Over & Out,

Jeff

Yes, Cyril. It is a "so true" post that you wrote. Tomorrow Obama will be elected. Then, let's move on.

Final Gallup Poll Estimate.

PRINCETON, NJ -- The final Gallup 2008 pre-election poll -- based on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 Gallup Poll Daily tracking -- shows Barack Obama with a 53% to 42% advantage over John McCain among likely voters. When undecided voters are allocated proportionately to the two candidates to better approximate the actual vote, the estimate becomes 55% for Obama to 44% for McCain.

The trend data clearly show Obama ending the campaign with an upward movement in support, with eight to 11 percentage point leads among likely voters in Gallup's last four reports of data extending back to Oct. 28. Obama's final leads among both registered voters and likely voters are the largest of the campaign.

Well said, Cyril. Sure wish they would shorten the election process from what now is 3 years to a more effective 6 months. At this point it's a lot like a divorce. I don't care who wins, let's just get it over with.

I have voted in every single election since I turned 18. I don't care if the race on the ballot is only for the county coroner; I vote.

My father served in both WWII and Korea and I would never disrespect his selfless service to this country by not doing my small (but very important part) to participate in this democracy that he worked so hard to protect.

There is no excuse not to vote, but beyond that, to be politically observent, critical and involved is so very important. Research your ballot, know your races, investigate your candidates (national and local) and exercise your rights to cast your vote.

If you wish to use a non-partisan site to research the races in your state, go to www.vote-smart.org. It is a fantastic resource to know what is going to be on your local ballot and what races are important and the official voting records and stances on important issues. It is not skewed by political affiliation or contributions.

Bravo, Cyril, for mentioning this on your blog and for voting.
