Hi Carlton, received the baffles yesterday and installed them today. They are excellent my friend. The noise is just right. Normal when idle but angry when you hammer the bike. A really good job... thanks for everything

from one of my hot rod customers

Hi Carlton,

Just a note to let you know that the six baffles have been installed on the '31 Ford sedan, and have worked out just fine. The exhaust now has a relatively quiet throaty quality. Most important, it is now pleasant to drive.

The following was done:

After you sent me the material for six baffles, I shaped them smaller in the middle, and wider at the ends. Rich Oakley welded rings for me on one side only so that the baffles would make the bend in the 1 1/2" exhaust pipes. I tested the baffles this way - much quieter. I then decided to wrap the outside of the baffles with some fiberglass obtained from a local motorcycle shop. I had to use half the thickness of the fiberglass so that it would fit into the exhaust pipe. Then drilled the bottom of the exhaust pipe and put in self tapping screws to hold them. The '37 flathead seems to run smoother and starts more easily with the baffles in - compared to the open pipes.

Thanks for all your help.

Best regards,
Howard

Carlton, Thanks for the great customer service and advice. With a little customization I was able to make the Power braids fit very nicely, without having to drill holes or rivets. The sound performance is nothing short of "mind boggling". My pipes are shorty headers attached to a big block S & S. They were deafening and even at their leanest tune still had a backfire like a 8 gauge shotgun. Now, they sound beefy without the backfire or excessive noise. I was very amazed and would reco these as a great solution to those hotrodders running outrageously loud, twisted, shorty pipes. Show them the pics of my pipes and they will not believe I am now legit on the strip.

A+ for design, A+ for performance claim achieved, A+ for value.

Thanks so much!

Just talk to Carlton a few minutes ago and when I get home I plan to measure my pipes and order a set of Powerbraids. I'm trying to get my Samson ground pounders (96 FLSTF) to pass Maryland state inspection. I update on the results.
Great idea and by the way, the way I found out about this product was by calling Samson themselves and asking what baffle I could use for their pipes. They gave me the info on Powerbraids.

This is for douglas dragotta, aka "poor busuness practices"
I refunded your money minus shipping and handling, my company policy is that once I pay USPS for your shipping label, you don't get shipping charges back. You had to have them shipped right away so I processed your order as soon as you paid. I don't understand why you are still crying about it, paypal gave you your "full refund". Maybe next time you should have your mommy order for you since you can't grasp the concept of "company policy". I do everything I can do to make my customers happy.Sellers beware of this customer,

Having actually installed the Powerbraidz baffles in my Cobra Speedster Slashdowns, I can absolutely say the following: These are the best baffles I've ever put in any of my pipes. Riding since 1975, 34 years. Many motorcycles: Harley, Triumph, BMW, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. With the Cobra pipes and a Powerbraidz, my V-Star 1100 has been turned into a rocket. The sound is low, the lowest I've achieved; almost automotive-like. There's no question that this fine design will allow you and your neighbors to hear yourselves think. The HOA has no objections. Neither do the police. Blip the throttle at a stop and you can hear all you or the driver next to you will want. Most of all, under enthusiastic acceleration, which these baffles encourage, my pipes roar and very loud and healthy sound. Music to my ears. Loud enough to save your life, but just quiet enough to keep the police at bay. You gotta get these baffles. Oh yeah. My engine just hauls--power all the way across the band with gobs of torque. I did the work to fit them myself and placed them in the end of the pipes using the custom hole. I drilled the retention hole in the Powerbraidz myself with a #3 drill available at almost any hardware store including True Value.

The mess or weave of stainless steel appears to have the ability with the increase of surface area to absorb and lower the sound of pipes better than the cheese grater or power pieces (quater-size blanks) that are added to the center of the pipes. They appear to be an effort to permanently install a sort of sound absorbing packing that never has to be repacked. Hard enough to allow the gases to continue a degree or harmonics yet soft enough to absorb the objectionable sound.

Is it possible that an occassional hole along the run of this baffle, even a small hole, might have a salutary effect upon the system?

Billy, I'm sorry that they did not fit right. I make three different sizes and fit pipes as follows; 2-1/8" fits 2-1/4" INSIDE DIAMETER PIPES, 1-7/8" FITS 2" INSIDE DIAMETER PIPES, 1-5/8" FITS 1-3/4" PIPES. Thats why I ask for a inside diameter demension when you ordered. You should have contacted me about the fit and I would have corrected the problem. Thanks for giving me a complaint and not calling me to resolve the problem!

Just got these for my pipes, couldn't pass inspection in NY, and, they fit like garbage. The isntructions say they are just a bit smaller so the will slide into the pipe without any trouble. Yeah right!!! piece of s^%$!!! i checked and they are a little BIGGER! A morning of sanding these down to get them to go in for me. He did ship fast, I ordered on Tuesday and got them Friday.

Carlton. I am looking for a way to silence and improve low end power on my cbr 900rr. It is a semi custom bike with manufactured short pipes sticking out the sides. The solution you offer seems to be ideal my question is: do you ship to Europe and whether you have recommendations or precautions I should be aware off. What do I need to pay attention to before purchasing and installing on my bike. Exmp. How long does the pipe need to be?
Thanks ahead. It would be great to reduce noise, i feel that the people in my neighborhood are losing their nerves!
Best regards,
Gerard

db was way out of line forcing his opinions of what he thinks people should do. I'm old school I made them and tested on several bikes. 10 to 15 db range is from stock to high compression engines. I would never say exact range because there are to many varibles, compression cam stroke all play a factor. Are you a real biker db, or are you just using a bunch of blog names to cry your story. I invite you to MB SC anytime to back your statement. Its funny that you left out the email where you cussed me out, do you kiss your momma with that mouth I will not kiss tail to you to sell a baffle... If anybody would like to know more just email me about the product eccycles@sc.rr.com

I don't know if these work as claimed or not but they look interesting. What I *do* know is the guy running the busness is a rude jerk. I sent him the following inquiry:

"Do you happen to have sound clips (youtube perhaps) on these? Or alternatively, do you have wave (or SPL meter) stuff like before and after?

If you don't.. it might be a good thing to collect. Any dealers on these yet or you just going direct?

thanks in advance"

He replied : "Don't tell me how to run my bussiness! Either you want them, or you don't. Look elsewhere for your baffles"

Bearing in mind these things cost $120.00 by the time he ships...I don't think my question was out of line. The claim is 10 to 15db in sound reduction. The way we hear (psycho acoustical perception) a 10 db increase (or decrease) in sound is percieved as being twice as loud.. or conversely half as loud. So a 15 db change is SERIOUS reduction in sound. It isn't that darned hard to do a before and after recording and put up a pic of the sound wave.... or to do a test with an SPL (sound pressure level) meter and post the actual results.

Of course in the next email I got from this guy.. (the one in response to me telling him I tink he's a jerk.. he informs me he doesn't need my business and hopes I get noise tics.

So much for the brotherhood. I dont know if they work or not... but I'm not going to line up to kiss anybodies rear for the priveledge of spending my money with them.

just one bikers opinion.

Vanishing Point,

I will back Conrad's play any time any where. A standard Desperado 124 will spank the shit out of that S&S of yours with or without baffles.

Powerband,

There are other ways to keep back pressure in an engine without the need for baffles. Also, lean is good to a point ..... that point is just before the piston melts to top out.

D.O.T. WILL BE ENFORCING BAFFLE/EMMISSIONS LATE '09. AN ENGINE IS NOT HOW LOUD IT IS, BUT HOW CONSISTANT IT IS UNDER PRESSURE, IF YOU WANT TO BE LOUD, IT'S YOUR CHOICE FOR NOW. IF YOU WANT TO BE RUN CONSISTANT TIMES, YOU NEED BACKPRESSURE FOR ANY V-TWIN TO BE MOST EFFICANT AND HAVE ANY PIPE YOU WANT......YOU'LL BE ABLE TO FINE TUNE YOUR RIDE FOR LONGER RUNS PER TANK FULL.. AND HAVE A BETTER RESPONCE TIME PER TWIST OF THE TROT. THE LEANEST YOU CAN RUN YOUR MOTOR THE BETTER. ITS A RULE OF THUMB LEANER (COLDER SPARK PLUGS) THE BETTER. THEY MAY LOSE 2 HP BUT GAINS OF TORQUE MAKE IT WORTH THE WHILE. DID I FORGET THE $140.00 NO BAFFLE TICS HERE IN MYRTLE BEACH SC, ITS HERE NOW .....AND HEADING YOUR WAY IF YOU LIVE IN USA. DO WHAT YOU WANT, BUT I LIKE STICKIN IT TO THE MAN BY BEING HUSH QUICK. VANISHIN POINT IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK IN THIS WAY OF THINKING. LET ME KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT IF YOU GUYS HOOK UP AND RUN!!

Gar,

When it comes to Desperado and Jeff Nicklus Customs you dont need baffles. Just sit back and enjoy the sound of the REAL engine that we put in our bikes. LOL
