I'd just like to mention something : the EEC became the EU (European Union) over 15 years ago. For further information on "the Old Continent", check out http://www.europa.int

I just want to remind you that the multinationals sell the big volumes in the USA, but they make the profit in Europe; usually American retail price is the purchase price of an European dealer, which means that whatever they sell in Europe is at least a 40% more expensive, way before we apply any ridiculous exchange rate like now.

The arrival of Parts Unlimited will push the European distributors to their knees; and may be as well some European apparel manufacturers (Alpinestars,...); because Parts can just top-up a container with any product of their cataloge.

Hi there,

it's about time this low quality distributor ( Custom Chrome ) get's some stiff competition.
Looking forward to some real alternatives. Hope the new guys don't make any difference between
endusers and so called "customizers"........it's all about the "KnowHow" and how to use the
"right" stuff when you need it and not because it's there. No more self announced .........
European......Champions.....tired of it!

Hmm.. Cyril, are you sure EEC means European Community of Europe ? I'd rather say it stands for European Economic Community...

Don't forget that there are also other big aftermarket distributors in Europe like Zodiac, Motorcycle Storehouse or W&W Cycles. Of course they buy some of the stuff in the US, but they also have some parts manufactured especially for their catalogs.
Another big US company in Europe will do for an interesting competition !

European shoppers fly to New York, stay in high priced hotels, buy Gucci, Prada cheaper than in Europe then go home. Why can't the european biker (if he's not on TSA's shit list) fly to the US buy the parts for cash and ship or carry the stuff back with him?
The dollar is so far in the toilet compared to th Euro it will never come back, unless the new? Afro-American president can use so Afro-American engineering on the buck.

Sounds good to me as freight cripples us in UK!! but pound strong against dollar- OR WAS last week - !! now dropped almost 10% coupled with crappy pound against Euro means possibly still cheaper buy in US!!?? we will see what happens -
I think Mag got it right opening in UK as the pound to dollar is good generally whereas Dollar to Euro crap as is pound to Euro!! should save a lot on $3-4 a kilo freight plus Vat and Duty too!!

The market really needs both, if not more competition. Some competition is good as it keeps everyone in line with each other. Having come from New Zealand some 26 years ago I saw 1st hand when companies in that market got a monopoly or a big majority of a market. The end user lost and they dictated the rules. We're seeing some of that apply to our market/industry here in the US. I like to see some competition as it keeps everyone honest and treats people/business fairly.

This will be the end of Custom Chrome in Europe. They can not compete with Parts Unlimited/Drag Specialties in Europe any better than they could here in the US.

I'm amazed it has took this long for another US catalogue to compete against Custom Chrome in Europe.
I still find it is cheaper for me in the UK to buy direct from the USA due to the strength of the Euro against the £.
