What can I say, been building my own, from 1968, never bought a complete bike, never bought a stock Harley, always built from frame and motor cases up, learned alot, the custom chopper craze, well as with most, it came and went, but the old guys, always built on a budget anyway, never was interested in a stock Harley anyway, not enought power, and never liked rear shocks, remember it's a motorcycle and not a car. Sorry to see another motorcycle company bite the dust, maybe it's time to get back to what it's really all about, big motors, big power, long, low, and lean, no frills, just legal enough to be on the road, after all, if you wanted comfort, put 2 wheels on your Lazy Boy, the sad part is that 70 percent of the new age bikers, don't even know how to service them, let alone fix them. As one guy recently told me, ( while he was on his $40,000.00 custom chopper, store bought)
I have a cell phone and tripe A, thats all I need, Thank God, I don't have that outlook, rest in peace Iron Horse,

Welcome to "CHANGE"! The "death" of capitalism! Who's next? Look at who has already been through the government take over of all things industry (i.e., GM, Chrysler, AIG, and on and on) and profit. The American people had better take the reigns away from the government before they destroy every industry in the United States and run them like they have run everything else, in the ground!

Once again the MC public has been attacked by someone "perceiving" what someone else "perceives" regarding yet someone else's "opinion" which makes them ALL wrong. The key word is "Liquidation"........!!!!!!!!
American IronHorse opened their warehouse gates to the general public and gave them 3 days to buy anything in the warehouse at 50% to 60% off "COST" price. You could actually leave with a "rolling chasis" of several AIH models, including but not limited to 2006 Slammers, along with multitudes of various parts. Since this is Texas, where the term "haggle" was perfected, you could have purchased many items at a70% discount.
AIH was purchased by a gentleman with vision, intelligence and a great sense of humor. AIH should be coming out soon with some NEW models and I am confident the company is here to stay. They are a great group of people, and they definately have their finger on the American MC Pulse.
I had so much faith in their product, I purchased a 2007 Bandera from IHOT the day before AIH filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The key words there were "Chapter 11."
I hope this information has been helpful and entertaining LOL.

Sincerely,
CB

Another American Motorcycle bites the dust . Darn shame H&D didn't have enough brass where
it counts to buy them out. The bikes were 'based' on H&D parts anyways , and would of given
Harley an outlet for the market of bigger/badder bikes that they are so slow and reluctant to make.
Why isn't H&D's standard cycles at least 100 ci by now ?(could of made it 102 if didn't wish to
copy 'Victory'. Oh well wait another 3-5 years for that 'big' advancement .Someday they may even
make a cruiser that makes 100 hp ( oh, yes , there is the aftermarket harley parts. By the time
you get the bike you want, you've spent 40 to 50,000 to get the bike that American Ironhorse
would of given to you for 26,000). RIP American Ironhorse.

This isn't good, Kim Suter, American Iron Horse--who will be next? I hope that things start turning around soon. I've read on the internet and in print that they're predicting that things will go full-circle and guys will be buying H-D's (like Rodent was saying) and customizing them on their own in their garages after work and on the weekends as it was years and years ago before the "craze" of the custom choppers, from folks like West Coast Choppers,OCC, etc...the bikes were good looking, but they were out of the reach of the average guy/gal. I think that it would be cool if someone were to get something like a ten year old sportster and get a paughco frame and just do something with that in his/her garage and just work on it when he/she could afford it . It is times like that where you have to be creative with little to no budget and that is when innovation and true creativity come about. Am I one of those guys that can do that? Honestly, no--but maybe one day I will have the courage to tackle a project like that (or something similar) and see how it turns out good or bad. There are always people that talk shit and say "I could do better than that' or "If I were to do it my way", but yet they are the ones that can't do shit when it comes to working on bikes in any way, shape or form. Hope the bike industry can recover and get a solid footing again.

Rodent,

Who is next ????? Could it be Harley? I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't announce a "merger" with a "known" European Company in the next six months.

Could be a good time to jump on some HD stock, as low as it is now. (Of course the stock will go even lower next quarter with the announcement by management of "greater losses than previously anticipated".)

Who's Next? As much as I hate to say it, buy a Harley, customize it without voiding the warentee, and the'll be in business when all the other harley clones fold up shop.

If I were to guess what direction American Ironhorse is going right now ,,,,,,,,, I would have to say their spiral is still headed straight down the tubes. Good luck getting AIH to honor any warranties!
