So what is the consensus on this? Is it bad like the previous version, or can I put my ten-year-old daughter on the back and be safe? I really like the look and concept, but I want to be able to stop from any speed without trouble and sound effects. Can any one help answer this? Preferably someone that does not work for the manufacturer.

I have seen these brakes for a few years now, and have actually tried the "old Version" on a motorcycle. The old version stopped reasonably well, no worse than what was offered by brake manufacturers a few years back. It would be interesting to find out if they are testing for DOT or TUV.
I have to say though, There are alot of "manufacturer labeled" bikes that do not have DOT parts on them. I don't think "spikey footpegs, tiny turn signals, bobbed fenders, no fenders , small headlamps, and shorty pipes would pass DOT. So, I think the smaller custom manufacturers could probably get away with them We have all been fortunate that the "regulators" are not enforcing these on us, YET! ( Keep sending them doughnuts guys. I think it has been working!)
Try passing a bike into Canada with Transport Canada. I had a bike tested a few years a o with a former employer, and they wanted a shake/dust test done on our headlights! Forget about the larger items, I don't EVEN want to think about it anymore! ( I got employees who can do it for me now) Hee Hee !

I do not believe that will ever be allowed by DOT Gar. They are quite picky about things. I know it was a pain in the ass just to approve the single sided swingarms frames built a few years back. The 360 brake is amazing ..just like the 360 tire though it will never be approved

These are for sure cool, however, they are not DOT Certified and can only be used by the aftermarket folks. The manufacturers are out of luck. Any testing planned for DOT Certification?
