HEY! Can you all just take a step back?Not everyone who works on their bike HAS to be either a “PRO BUILDER” or a manufacturer. Get over the nit-picking already. Hell I’m feeling glad that
The Horse is filling some of the gap left by all the so called big mags after all the build off craze
I dont claim to be a “Master Builder” I’m just a biker who works on bikes,Stop with the negitive shit
make it yourself its cool man ill be there with my home/hand/garage-built bike theres no reason to be scared, RIGHT? its just us little guys.

I think if someone claims to be a custom chopper builder, they need to show proof that they built and SOLD at least 3 “custom” bikes in the year prior, and maybe prove that these bikes are still on the road too. If these “contest” organizers use that as a formula, then I think we/they could get at least one or two more good judges.

The industry is starting to take a bad turn because of the bullshitters and con-artists claiming to build custom bikes, and it’s the really good reputable “real” custom builders who are being screwed.

Ill be there with a part time- shed built bad ass chopper! Mines a little single cylinder, and bad as hell!
They want me to pay 20 bucks to register for the show, and i have two bikes to go. 40 bucks is a lot of cash for “A lot of creativity without spending a ton of money” so if they want some REAL garage built by a hard working man bikes intheir show, they will waive the entry fee!
If they cant waive the fee, maybe they will have to not hire so many celebrity judges next year?
I dont know, well see how it goes!

The custom bike industry depends upon fresh young blood. “A lot of creativity without spending a ton of money” sums up where most of Gen X and Y are. Cool, low budget, rideable scoots may yet save the industry over the long term.

Maybe next they will build a five star hotel for the celebrities to stay at while in Sturgis. I don’t know any of the “celebrity” judges and I am sure they are fine people, but come on they are not celebrities. They are professional bike builders, some of which I am sure are even struggling in this market.

the only thing that would make that press release and the star studded ‘celebrity’ event even more chopper-crazy horse like- would be steppenwolf or john mellencamp. i didn’t see will smith on the list- he’s a famous bike driver too.
