In the face of forecasts like:
“…third-quarter profit fell 15.3 percent…”
“…sluggish U.S. market for motorcycles….”
“…The company expects next year to be also difficult…”

One might suggest that additional indicators like:
“Hugh the biker build-off king” morphing into
the “tattoo build-off king”…….
are less than reassuring.

Perhaps HD is saddled with to much capacity (two new plants).

The market jumped up 100 points this afternoon.
Ya, there probably are some stock that deserve another look.
Is HD one of em…?

I hope my retirement annuity isn’t deep in HD stock.

When it hits HD, then we all know the bike business is in a slump. They have weathered many storms in 105 yrs and will this one too. This might be a good opportunity for them to retain a more loyal workforce and purge out the people with a “strike” mentality.

I am afraid that in 2008 it will be 1 month at idle speed. Hope not, but for HD it sounds bleak.

One week does not seem like much given the huge percentage of loss. It will be interesting to see where this all ends up.

It is the right decision and workers understand it. One week without paycheck is better than being jobless later because of over production. God bless Harley.
